Can any one help ? I'm travelling to Dover ferry port from crewe, need to be there for 8am friday morning and worrying I will get stuck in rush hour traffic ! Know any good roads to take and roughly how long ?

m6,m6 toll,m42,m40,m25,A2? I would allow 2 hours longer than you think it will take, other than the M6 toll and M40 you can never rely on the other roads to be anything other than problematical!

What a bizarre first post

You could try a route planner

Or alternatively, you could go M6, M6(Toll), M1, M25, M20, and take around 4 hours, I guess.

4 hours is a bit optimistic if keeping within the law :(

(The route planner that you suggested shows the journey taking 4 hours 19 minutes)

Give yourself an extra couple of hours and if you arrive earlier than planned just sit and relax................You will deserve it :thumb:

Best bet is to travel down Thursday evening and have a relaxing night in a B&B or hotel near the port. The M25 will be a lottery at the time of day you'll be hitting it.

My uncle loves to wind people up, he can argue over almost anything. One of his favourites is how best to travel from A to B. I suspect the OP is also pulling our leg with this one.

If thats the case perhaps the OPs name is a sign of further things to come

Good roads?

Good roads ?!?!?

This is the UK, you know. Asking for good roads might be a tad optimistic.....

.

There's a pothole near here which must be a real moneymaker for someone as it's been filled with a little sand and shingle and then has a tarmac lid put on.

A bit like a really crunchy pie.

Less than a week later it's a pothole again... Brilliant!
