How to help the car sell!

Hey everyone!
I thought I'd ask peoples points and views on my car sales skills because I'm struggling to get any enquires on the Merc and it really is a nice example!

(I'll be trying hard not to make this a for sales add, So Admin I'm sorry if i over step the boundaries!!)

I'm trying to sell my Mercedes C270 CDI Advantgarde SE '05
Its in really nice condition inside and out in the interior is almost immaculate and the outside except for a very few small amount of blemishes is also in really good condition.
I've had the car 'Detailed', so it doesn't even have any swirl marks in the paint etc.
Its done 114,000 miles.
Its full Mercedes history and one oil change from a Mercedes specialist.
1 previous owner etc
Its is due a service in 1200 miles and counting.
and tax til Sept.
Mot isn't until April.

Ive got it up for £6000 but I have put in my adverts the fact that if the service hasn't been done before a sale ill consider that in my price.
BUT NO ENQUIRES!
Where am I going wrong! Please help!

Again, admin if you consider this to close to a for sale add let me know and ill remove/ edit until you are happy!

Autotrader has similar cars for under £5k from traders. Sounds like you're being over £1k optimistic.

Do you seriously have "BUT NO ENQUIRES" as in "no enquiries" listed in the advert? because if you have nobody will call at all..

Yeah the price i know is High, I figured start high and work down but I do feel I started a little to optimistic.

No, Moonloops I'm struggling to sell the car, I'm not a dipstick haha, that is what I was saying to you lot on the forum, thats not part of my advert.

Never 'start high and work your way down', it'll only cost you in the long run.

Price the car in line with the rest with a good, clear advert and you'll get interest.

I echo SPX - if the price is too high compared to the others, you are going to struggle. Particularly if trader's cars are cheaper for the same or examples with more spec / lower mileage or whatever.

Over-exposure can lead some potential buyers being put off. Although it may be obviously too expensive, if it was THAT good, it would have sold by now. If not, why not?

I'd personally price it at the lower order trade examples. You have to be realistic in this climate...

Agree with above posts

......I find to get brought down to reality, ask a dealer what it would be worth as a trade in. When your heart has sank and you can stand up again you now know more about it's true worth.

IMO on a car that age and mileage you might expect to better part ex value by around £750 tops for a very clean example, a dealer might aim for a grand and a half sticker price and settle for a grand over PX value.

I sold a C320 CDi with similar miles full MB history, sunroof, full climate, memory heated drivers seat, but no Comand for £6,500 (+ £250 for the private plate!) nine months ago.

I think your probably just asking too much money.

I struggled at that with ours, and had to develop an unusual sales tactic to get to that level.

Yeah cheers lads, I knew what was coming...Ive already been to trade he said for a lower mileage one he'd give what he'd give me.....was a little surprised it wasn't as bad as I thought but still, never the less....Not enough.

The car is silver and auto, and bloody immaculate. Even the trader commented and said it looks like a 60,000 mile car. And it really does.
Ive come to the conclusion that It's probably never going to sell for what I need so Ill probably be keeping it!

Its too nice of a car to give away, and i mean that i know people will think I'm only saying it because 'its mine'. But its a bloody gorgeous example.

Keep it ? My thoughts exactly. If it's that good why sell ? That's why I still have my 1996 C200. I originally bought the C280 as a replacement but couldn't bear to let the C200 go for peanuts. Far too good an example with zero rust and looks the dogs danglies after washing !
