How to price a low mileage S211 E500 Estate ?

High Miler on Ebay recently 03 or 04 I think about 170/180K up for £2,000
yes 2K! I was tempted and still am for an E500 Estate I dont want the expense of AMG brakes discs etc 500 performance is adequate for me . Tempted because I might be able to get from 4 mercs to 3 the 210 is long in the Tooth , The CLK is great I love the V8 in it but not as practical so E500 would give me the best of both worlds currently pondering the higher mileage reliability of the 7G and the Airmatic tho and the 32O diesels torque is not far from a 500's but with the economy / no air up front and a reliably proven 722.6 5 speeder thats the competition and the problem
What colour / spec is yours ?
What spec and price was the recent autotrader one ?
Desirable for me is Heated Seats / Parktronic / Designo Interior /7 seats & History

Hi Boyd hope you are well. Can I get in the queue behind you for this? Mike - please drop me a pm if you do decide to sell and Boyd doesn't take it off you. Cheers Tom

Will do, Tom. I think I'm in for the longer "haul," thanks to the conversation with everyone, but I'll come back if I change my mind in Spring or whenever.

Hi Biglips nice to hear from you again. Still got the E36?
PM me if you see any other S211 E500's estates, or nicely specced 211 estates that you pass on /hear of . I will be interested .My 210 is getting close to its best before date.
Funnily enough, after doing the 7 seat swap from My 124 to your E36 , I now need 7 seats again (not in the 124 but either my 210 or a 211 replacement ) as I now have 2 grandchildren :D

I will keep a look out for you and will share any good leads. I think the best cars are bought from fellow enthusiasts. Whilst I don't need a replacement car at the moment I am ready for a change and Mike's car caught my eye as a well loved large petrol engined estate. Ticks all the boxes!

I no longer have the E36 but really miss it. Funny how I no longer need 7 seats now my girls are older and you have need of them again!

Have you seen this one Boyd?

2006 MERCEDES E350 SPORT AUTO GREY | eBay

E350 nice colour and spec with low miles. Price a little ambitious but might be up for a haggle? Only thing that puts me off is the foldaway seats look a bit malaligned. If it was closer I would take a look

Nice looker that one Started looking at E500's but cant really justify 3 V8's on the drive ! ( CLK 430 V8 & My Boat a Mastercraft X5 ) so then went to the E320CDI's nearly bought 2 but they went before I could get there then started thinking do I really need an estate as I still have the old 1993 124 estate so I thought what do I really need ................... what itch needed scratching ..... I always fancied a VW T4 / T5 Day van that I could use on hill walking trips to wales also with retirement imminent something that I could use to get me out when I have had enough of the house / garage, so after test driving a VW T5 Transporter auto that was .... simply awful just like an old Hire van, I decided only a Merc would do, so have just bought a 2007 Vito 120CDI ( 3 liter V6 diesel ) auto cruise / command leather captains seats privacy glass and HOb fridge & sink Pod in back plus nightheater all Black with AMG alloys and chrome sidebars doesn't quite drive like the E class but Adventures here we come and on Most Roads its close :thumb:
Boyd Ill post some piccies

I have been toying with the idea of a similar day van instead of an estate. We do a lot of surfing trips as a family and a day van would be ideal. However I would miss the refinement of a proper car and sadly cannot run to two vehicles. I will be interested to hear how you get on with the van. Sounds great!

As I said on Saturday after some of the comments about mileage on these cars, I'll stick with it, even though it's now on 68k miles! (shock horror!).

I'm curious that you were worried about passing the 67k miles mark. That's about the mileage I look for when buying cars! A good balance of being well run-in but nothing worn out yet...

An E like yours ought to be able to go on for years yet if driven regularly and maintained properly, especially as (I'm guessing) you don't put too many miles on it. There was a W211 on Autotrader with 490k miles the other day. And loads of US drivers have big mileages on theirs too.

Probably changing around Easter

Fair point, SW18,

Curent thinking is to switch to an S500 / W221 in the Spring. As I said in November, I wasn't planning to change this Winter. CostCentreOne and CostCentreTwo have done the University thing now, so I don't need the Estate for house moves & rowing teams any more.

All agreed that properly maintained Mercedes go on for ever. I used to do the Frankfurt airport trip regularly and routinely sat in an immaculate E class with 300+k on the clock.

This more modest E500 will still be rolling on long after I've gone to the Breakers yard, for sure. But for Spring '17, i'll have a newer (flashier?) car with 20k on the clock. Would like a CL500, but must be practical and settle with a modest 4 door LWB. Just need to slip in a quick run to the South of France with old reliable first.

All a very first world problem

Solution in sight.

Found a fully toyed S500 LWB, with great provenance, so I'll find out the answer to the original question sometime over Easter.
