Title says it all really. I've been sent a .wps document created in MS Works 7.0. I have Office XP (Word 2002). I've downloaded all the converters etc. I can find, and can now open Works 2000, Works 4.0 and Works 6.0 ... but not Works 7.0 :(

Any bright ideas (other than going back to the sender and asking for a version in .rtf or whatever)?

PS the document is a transcript of my grandfather's diaries, written (illegally!) while serving in France as an artillery officer in WW1.

The quickest solution to this is to get the sender with Works 7 to save the WPS file either in an earlier version of Works format ("Save As - .WPS Works 6.0") or if formatting isn't that important to sent it to you as a Rich Text file (*.RTF).

A Works 7.0 to Word filter exists but it is built in to Office/Word 2003 and AFAIK is not available separately.

(Edit: If you have any plans for the diaries please LMK as I have a similar project with my Grandfather's WW2 diary!)

you could email them to someone who has a later version of Office and they could then resave to an earlier version.

I have Office 2003 if that would help. Happy to convert them for you? Pm me if you llike and I'll send you my email addy.

It was my dad that has transcribed the diaries, they have gone to the Royal Artillery Historical Society, Royal Artillery Library, and Royal School of Artillery Library ... all of whom asked for copies.
