Planning a DIY wheel refurb and want to take the old tyres off the rims. Is it easy / possible?

And the weights and valve?

They won't be refitted as I'll get a garage to fit new ones when I've finished.

It is quite tricky. Its best to just get a tyre shop to do it as they wont damage them.

I agree with Olly, your local independent tyre shop will do it for you for a few quid. Not worth the time and effort to do it yourself.

The hardest part is breaking the bead, and its isn't at all easy.

If its a simple refurb, leave the tyre on and use lots of masking tape. Otherwise a tyre fitters and keep your sanity.

I just taken mine to local dealer and wasn't to expensive - saved a whole lot of hassle - put the car in before work and collected after work - nice and easy
