HPI check ? what to tell the buyer ?

Looks like SWMBO's C180 will be sold very soon. I have a buyer wanting the V5 nr, VIN and reg number to HPI it.

Is this safe to give out ? what are the pitfalls ? can they not just use the reg nr ?

they do need V5 number and VIN to complete it properly, VIN and REG can be got from a car by walking past it so these are ok, I was not happy about this when I sold my Audi earlier this year but no details no sale so you need to take the plunge
