Huge increase to service plan cost

What about sticking that £82 a month into your account for 4 years …£4000 , then just getting an MB specialist to do the servicing .
When you come to sell a 10 year old car that’s well serviced and looked after by your good self it’s not going to matter one jot if it’s MB history or MB part + MB specialist .
After all it’s only standard service stuff we are talking about .
That’s in my humble opinion of course .
You'd be surprised W1ghty. Buyers of AMG's usually look for a full main dealer service history.
Mine was 8 years old when I sold it but that was the first question.
Those of us who use indies know their worth, but not all buyers do.
When it come to repairs however, indy every time for me.

I do get it and I know you speak from experience.
But £1000 a service for what is at heart a petrol car with a few more spark plugs and maybe a couple of extra litres of oil . Two of those 4 services are an oil change A service .
The extras in those 4 years are one gearbox service (£300?) and one set of spark plugs (£250?) . Air filters , cabin filters maybe a fuel filter are the same costs as a normal smaller car .
But that’s my thinking , I appreciate not everyone is the same and we all have different budgets .
I’ve set £70 aside to service both mine next month :)

I've always used independents where possible on my cars.

A good indi is a god send, especially on my Maserati lol

I'll find out service costs at one of my local independents and run some rough figures.

Obviously I have to factor a set of spark plugs, brake fluid changes, breakdown cover and MOT test fees.

As I do around 2-3k miles year in Europe, you get Service Care Mobilio breakdown cover Europe wide.

I've emailed MB centre nottingham to get service costs with them for comparison.

Not wishing to start another thread, I thought I'd piggyback this one.

The main dealer will be servicing my C63 before I pick it up (hopefully this week).

I intend to keep the car for at least 5 years, which is not the norm for me.

I always intended to take out a service plan and as I'm sure you're aware from previous posts, a 4 year plan is around £82 a month.

My thought process is that I really need to be keeping FMBH to retain as much value in the car as possible.

Allowing for £150 breakdown and £50 MOT, it's just under £800 per service (averaged).

I have 2 independent specialists nearby if necessary for repair work.

Any thoughts?

Cheers
A bit strange as I got my C63s back in september. they quoted me £58 a month for 4 years and 4 MOTs. Can you try checking if there's a mistake somewhere? If not, then it has gone up and a lot...

The salesman originally said it would be £50 ish a month, then came back and said £82/83, which matches the mercedes website.

That's a huge increase in just 6 months 😬

Ouch. That's big indeed. Not sure if my impulse purchase at £58pm was worth it. Maybe marginally. At £83 I'd definitely avoid and just pay myself

The best way i found was buy what ever is needed ie plugs, filters oil from either MB NEWCASTLE or Edinburgh and put them in the boot so you still get FMBSH with just the labour costs 👍 win ,win in my eye's ive done it that way for the last 6 year's
MB Notts can be abit funny about taking your own stuff but MB Lincoln are quite happy to do it that way before i sold my W205 I had the major service including rear diff plugs etc and was charged around 3 hours labour as for buying an AMG I wouldn't buy 1 without detailed main dealer history 😀

This was my last

So it's due an A service with brake fluid change, dust filter and pan roof service. This will be done by mercedes Loughborough.

My local independent would charge £396.01 for that.

It's last service it had rear axle, transmission and spark plugs done, so some big ticket items done there.

I'll call my main dealer to get service costs now.

Dealer can't quote as it will just show what the car currently needs for THIS service... frustrating.

Brake fluid change is every 2 year's which falls on a B service unless it is out of sink with mileage etc🤔

Thats what my independent reckons. At 10962 miles at just over 4 years old, it might be out of sync for some reason, as its obviously well below average miles.

It's fmbh 🤷‍♂️

Should be fine but FMBSH doesn't mean all the additional items were done on time

So that means that gearbox, diff and spark plugs are a minimum of 4 years away now as far as service costs go .
