Hydrolic Tappets

Hi All

I was thinking of changing the tappets on my 89 230te and had a couple of questions.

1)How many are there?
2)Where do i get em from?

And does anybody know the costs associated with this, i.e. is it a DIY job etc?

noisey tappets

I too have noisey tappets which i have mentioned in a previous thread, first thing i did was to give the engine a good flushing out, then put new(good quality) oil in, this made a remarkable improvement to start with but now the noise is back but not as bad and only when starting from cold in the mornings,the rest of the day its ok. A quick FLIP of the throttle stops the rattle so i would try a flush first as it may only be one that is sticking, hope this helps a little.
