I am a wanted man

If you have no points already I am nearly 100% positive they'll give you an option to go on the speed awareness course. If so go on it - you'll enjoy it. It's two years since I've been on mine and I tell you I'm a better driver for it.

Got caught on camera a few months back, but no offer of a speed awareness course, just the straight £60/3 points :(

I think I am right in saying that not all authorities run the courses :dk:

Didn't think you had to tell your insurance for three points for speeding.

I thought it was 6 points + and if you had convictions for serious offences ( drink driving , dangerous driving etc ) .... don't think speeding is taken into account.

Nope... you are supposed to declare everything.

In fact you are supposed to declare intended prosecutions before you even get found guilty.

Does this vary from company to company as i have never told anyone of my three points that i got ...

Clean licence at the moment though ...... touch wood.

I don't think so... I suppose it could vary by insurance company but I've yet to see any insurance company not imposing this demand.

I had £60 fine and 3 points for a parking offence 10:30 in the evening, my insurance (was then Elephant) went up £100. This was due to the 3 points, nothing else

Parking on a zig zag by chance?

tut tut.

well not parked, I stopped. but I was in the car. and the bit I stopped on was recessed back from the road, so there was no obstruction. That will teach me to avoid the bus lanes and stop out of the way eh....

Its not so much the physical obstruction issue but visibility and distraction that is reason for the the strict enforcement of parking or stopping on zig zags.

We've all been there.

I was lucky: In 1981 I was stopped by police using a hand held device travelling at 51 in a 30. I was duly given a £40 fine by the magistrate. A month later I was stopped again for similar ( steep learning curve ) 60 miles away from the first offence.

Again a trip to court. Thinking to myself , ban ,fine etc, but no, when reading out the charge "no previous" was the last thing to be said. The first offence, in those days took quite a bit of time to circulate all the various courts. :D:D

When I'm sure you duly set the record straight... right? :p

This is the standard declaration

Have you ever been convicted of any motoring offences during the past 5 years, or is there any prosecution pending?

If your licence is now clean and you can say no to the above declaration - then don't worry about it. If you can't say no then technically your insurer can void your policy in the event of a claim. It is unusual to load for the first 3 pts so if I was you I would call them and declare it.
