I could do with some help

I could do with some help with a problem I'm having accessing my Windows Mail account. My desktop PC has failed and I'm using an old laptop that we have had since the 1800's running Ubuntu.
As you IT techs know, Windows mail can't be downloaded to Ubuntu and I'm stuck with Thunderbird.. What is confusing the issue is I recently signed up with Virgin Media (yes, know) but kept my old sky.com email address.
I can log onto the VM website, sign in and find my sky.com details and p/w but can't seem to access the emails on the account.

Any ideas or workarounds until I get another desktop in a day or two? IT isn't my forte so complex stuff will go over my head.

Can you not access using webmail features?

Your ISP is the provider of internet connection, where you keep emails etc is up to you. I use Hotmail and Photobucket as well as my iMac cloud and I am with Virgin, excellent service for a number of years so far.
