Just when I was feeling good about having done 68k in my W212 without any major issues - set off to the gym earlier and noticed lack of power with no acceleration or gear changes. Tried sport/manual but no difference.
No warning lights. Got home and checked oil, which was on the min, but settled to normal after a few mins. (did worry that I had an oll leak somewhere - but nothing obvious that I could see)
I wonder if this could be a turbo problem?
Car has been running fine with oil changes every 8k.

So in the last week that's dishwasher, boiler today and now car.....

Anyway now waiting for AA...

That's your 3 then, hopefully no more, good luck with the car. :)

Well no codes whatsoever, it's running fine now. Maybe it threw a wobbly as I, unusually, started it up without waiting for the glow plug light to go off and the engine was a bit shaky when I drove off?

Oh dear, mines just clocked 61k, and no trouble, hope it's good now.

What OBDII scanner did you use?

Did you get a message pop up. Check oil level when next refueling?

You say checked oil when you got home. You say it was at minimum level. Then once the oil settled it was normal. Normal in level to max line is that what you are saying?

Do you have a manual dipstick or do you have to check the oil via the cluster?

Yes it was the AA man who did a very lengthy scan.
I have a manual dipstick, when I checked the oil after driving for around 5 mins (still cold) it was on the min mark and stayed there long enough for me to get worried!
It returned to midway eventually, although every time i rechecked the reading was different. I put in a litre and it's now mid-3/4 way on the middle part of the dipstick.
No warning lights, and oil was checked 2wks ago and was fine.
Car is on 137k btw....

I'm surprised you didn't get a warning the previous time you used the vehicle to the current time. As you said the oil level was on the minimum level on checking. Then you added 1 litre. It's a wonder you didn't get a warning prior!!!.
As you have said it's up to within the level limits now. Just monitor it and check it regular.

I think the level was low due to it being cold and not having settled down in the sump when checking. In fact it did seem somewhat thicker than normal.
The AA man did some live reading checks too which were all normal. I'll be changing the oil next week as planned

I'm just surprised you didn't get a check oil message the previous time you drove your vehicle as to add I litre off oil to bring it up to mid way on the dip it must of been low to begin with. On the previous use. I would of thought you got a warning.

I check mine after having the car up to temp then when I switch the car off 10/15 minutes later get a more accurate reading I find.

yes i'm surprised too. it's the first time I've had to put oil in apart from when I had the oil cooler leak.
I always check after a run when up to temp, on this occasion I decided to check "just in case".
I'll have to keep an eye on it now to see if it is consuming more oil or I have a leak somewhere..

Well it may well have been the poor start that caused the problems, not sure you have a problem with low oil,the fact there are no stored codes suggest it was just a weird glitch from starting the car before the glow plug light went out,I had a problem last weekend I was in Cambridge started the car and I got ABS Anti skid,Service lights, switched off tried again still all there car running ok,but not running as well as normal but on a Sunday and needing to get home I ran it,got home then a hour later tried it again still had all the warning lights, but 4 hours after that they all went and it has run perfect all week

Strange intermittent symptoms can often be voltage related. I would get the alternator and battery checked. How old is the battery?

New battery was fitted last year.. Although I do have 2 live dashcams which i forgot to turn off when leaving the car for 2wks in Oct and the car struggled to start upon return.
There were a few codes associated with low voltages which I forgot to clear, but nothing engine related. These have all been cleared.
I have done 4k since returning from holiday and the car has been fine since.
