- e63 2010 was a cayenne turbo s and cls55
SO, exactly a year ago I woke up and after 3 years of owning the cls55 thought I was bored with it, I had an itch to scratch haha.
On to autotrader and started looking,when I was looking 3 years earlier I had seriously considered a Porsche cayenne turbo as that was the itch, a 4x4, at the time but as soon as I drove the cls I was smitten
so after a couple of days I found a really nice deep metallic blue 07 cayenne turbo s, mileage was on the high side (110000) but it had full service history so I was too worried and most of the problem parts i'd read about had been replaced,so a week later I toddled off to Essex and the deal was done, 10,500 for the cls and 4,500 to pay, the test drive went ok same as the drive up the m11 and a14 to home in Walsall, I was chuffed with it.
Now i'd read about a problem known as the tick of death, everything sounded ok when I was down in Essex so when I got up the next morning and started the car which was parked on the drive which is down the side of the house, let it warm up then my son wanted to hear the exhaust sound,ok I gave it some revs and I could hear a ticking noise that I hadn't herd before, hmmmmm, so took it for a drive, couldn't
hear it until I went up a road with houses either side and gave it some beans, holy crap, sounded like a conrod was trying to escape coming from passenger side.
the dealer had been a bit naughty as his premises were in a old hanger and when we were 50 miles away stuck in traffic on the m1 he had called me to ask how long we would be, so I told him about traffic and then he txt back with his home address saying to go to his home as he had some work to do,ok, now if that car had been in his showroom/hanger I think I would of heard this tick but when I arrived the car was reversed on his drive in the open,test drive was along country lanes.
Anyway, I took it to a Porsche specialist who put a camera down each bore and found that 5 of the 8 were to be honest f###ed so in the end it had to have a full engine rebuild that cost the dealer £4.5k plus vat, he made sure it took them 5 months to do this giving excuse after excuse to me, he refused to have the car back and give me my money on several occaisions .
So I got the car back on the 1st dec last year, it was ok but the thought of anything happening to the engine again was in my mind everytime I drove it, not good, so a month ago I found a 10 plate e63 and part chopped the porsche (12k) for it, yaaay happiness at last.
and alls good with it, very happy chappy now, but, hindsight is a beautiful thing cuz I wished i'd have gone for the e63 instead of the cayenne haha
