I did the right thing and now have a medically limited licence!

My Dr said he told them...so I never bothered. Could not drive for two months with arm broken in four places.....That was in 2010 mind.

Hi , well the DVLA is trying to remove us oldies from the road by eye enhanced sight testing thus reducing pollution by also removing pensioners cars.

Perhaps they should strengthen the MOT test re headlight alignment !

They are fine.....that just your tired old eyes being more sensitive to bright lights!!!;)

Joking apart the beam is checked more strictly and after market HIDs and LEDs are now a fail.....but the MOT cant stop the idiots using them and popping the stock bulbs back in for the test......or just putting to much weight in the boot.

...Perhaps they should strengthen the MOT test...

Have you considered how much exhaust gas emissions (including CO2) are caused by cars being driven to the MOT testing station, having their engines revved, then being driven back home? Reduce the MOT frequency to every 2 years for private cars and you've slashed in half the pollution caused by this unnecessary journey and test.

MOT every two years ! Madness , there are people out there (who vastly outnumber people who join car forums ) that need an MOT just to remind them that their cars roll on tyres that wear out and have windscreen wipers that are supposed to wipe water away , lights thats are supposed to light up and brakes that need fixing.

MOT every 12 months ....minimum. full stop .

My wife had to renew her licence 18 months ago ( at 70 years of age ), and advised that she had suffered a stroke in 2008, and only drove automatics and very short distances. That opened a whole can of worms , resulting in being referred for a medical and questionnaire, paid for by DVLA . As a result she was issued a standard licence.

I was on a longish trip with my mate and his Mrs. Stopped at my local filling station to fuel up and check tyre pressures as we had a 250 mile motorway run. His Mrs asked how often I checked my tyres ? Answer most weeks. Reply Oh! I let the garage do mine with the service unless they look flat then my brother does them.

Tanget - I know that this is a revival of an old thread but wonder, if you are stll reading the forum, if you could kindly update us of how this was resolved.

I ask this as I have a friend with a similar problem. I hope all goes well & thanks in advance for any response.

Thanks John.

I was aware, hence the words "if you are still reading the forum."

I'm an optimist so maybe there will be a response.
