My business partner Jim recently booked up to go on a four day cruise to Cork, Southern Ireland as he won't fly. He's been looking forward to it for weeks and he was due to sail on Sunday 30 August. All week prior to leaving he kept saying that he had to check in online three days before and towards the end of the week he still hadn't done it. I saw him on Saturday morning and he still hadn't checked in, said he had been too busy! Sunday afternoon whilst I'm watching the Belgium GP he rings my mobile. I can tell straight away he's not happy and says he's had the day from hell. He went on to tell me that on the way to Southampton their car, a PT Cruiser, broke down at Peachaven, East Sussex so given the time constraints they decided to leave the car there and continue by taxi/train. So they got a cab to Brighton Station and had a two hour journey to Southampton, where they then had to get another cab to the docks. When they finally got to the docks they were told the Boat had sailed the previous day! They then had to make their way home again, taxi to the station, then train back to Brighton and another taxi back to the car to wait for breakdown/recovery people. Whilst at Southampton station Jim went to use the public toilets. Wait for it......you know whats coming next!........ Yep, he got locked in the cubicle and had to wait for a maintenance man to get him out! Half an hour later he was out and walking to catch the train. As he went throught the ticket turnstile he got his bag caught in the mechanism and got stuck! maintenance man to the rescue again! When they did eventually get back to the car they call their Greenflag breakdown service only to be told that their cover had run out three months before and they would have to pay to get the car back to Hastings! I really was trying to keep a straight face while he was telling me, honest! He's been coming in and out of work over the last two days, been like a bear with a sore head!
