Finally, I have found myself that E55 I was looking for.

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has helped me with details, suggestions and help while looking for information and finding the right car. There certainly are many members on these boards who knows a thing or two about our cars.

As of Saturday 6th, I'll be a happy owner of a W211 2003 E55 AMG in Obsidian Black with only 48K mls and with plenty of toys, incl Keyless-Go, HK upgrade, Sunroof, Comand, Electric everything incl blind & Comfort Seats.

Now it's time for some modding (Alfie has been contacted) :)

Thanks again!

I am looking forward to seeing pics. Well done in persevering for the car you want. The E class is an excellent car.

What mods you got planned? Someone on here painted the grill black, that was ace. It will be good to hear what you think of its mid range punch cs your C320cdi.

Yes photos please !!! Vroommm....

I would like to have the latest firmware and DVD installed as well as changing the really un-attractive silver gear-shifter-suoround to the later models Bird's Eye Maple and gear lever. Looks so much better.

Would also like to install proper paddles if possible.

Nothing else really. Well, probably will treat the car to a nice detail. Did this on my C class earlier this summer and he car looked like new. See link.

As for performance, I have now tried 4 different E55's and yes, they are very quick. Although I have only had any one of them up to about 80 so far. As for mid-range punch, I'll guess I have to wait and see as I didn't put the foot down.

Saying that, the E55 has 700 Nm of Torque vs 590 Nm in the 320 Cdi. ;)

These two sounds like really tasteful mods. I would love to have a Birds Eye Maple steering wheel on the top arc and bottom arc.

Not sure that's possible on the E55. But maybe. Probably would cost a fortune to do it.... car has nice Birds Eye Maple already, but I just can not stand that silver thing. Plus, I thing the actual gear lever looks....

The silver thing was better than the hard plastic BMW used to surround their selector lever.

Is much nicer around the selector lever than BMW's hard plastic offering.

Give these people a call, they are able to get wood/leather wheels done in Germany, genuine MB.
