My nephew recently purchased a high mileage W204 C class with a 722.6 5 speed transmission. On my recommendation he had the subframe inspected before purchase and had a full transmission service carried out .
The car has been fine for a few months but he now (very rarely) experiences the car - when first started in the morning - feels as if it's trying to pull away in 3rd or 4th gear. The engine will rev as high as he needs it to get on his way and then the box shifts fine after that, the fact that he can rev the engine would (in my opinion) tell that it's not in limp mode.
This fault is almost exclusively 'first thing in the morning' but he has had it happen twice when car is fully warmed up and in stop start traffic. He explains it as "stuck in 4th.."
I have told him to take it back to the guy that serviced it and get the ATF level checked , transmission codes read and the TCU plug checked for leaks, but I have a strong suspicion it might be the Conductor plate.
Your thoughts please...
