After months of searching I think I have found THE car for Mrs B!

Its a 2002 '02 plate C180 Avantgarde Auto in JAsper Blue Metallic with Alpaca Grey Leather.

46000 miles with lots of toys and partial electric seats.

No comand but im sure Alfie will be able to help me out with that! :D

It got things like CLimate control, cruise, cd storage!, automatic dimming mirror, automatic child seat recognition and a good sized boot.

I went into Mercedes Sheffield today and told this pleasant chap that i wanted to spend up to about 17k on something for my better half.

He immediately showed me the C180 which is for £12495.

I thought sales types usually show you the most expensive first?

He was truly genuine and made me feel welcome.

Anyways, i need to know if thats a good price for a car like that?

Its it a good condition and he said its next service is in 4000 miles and he might be able to do it now.

We are going down together on thursday to show the old 206 and so that Mrs B can take it for a spin.

Is there anything i should be looking out for?

This is the link for the car if anyone can advise anything:

Hope it works.

Thanks in advance,

KJ.

p.s. is a 2 litre petrol underpowered for a car this size?

Assuming the sales person agrees to a free service in the first place, get him to agree to a free service in 4000 miles time. No point "wasting" a service for now.

thats a good point.

thanks for that!

is there anything i should look out for/ask for?

Seems to be the going price (from MB anyway). You get the piece of mind that you want. However if you're willing to spend more than you should be able to either get one with COMAND or possibly get a facelift model (late 2004 i.e. 54 plate onwards)

Just thought I'd mention that I also recall a member on this forum (Tan) was selling his 2001 W203 C220 CDI Elegance

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27947

It had some of the MB Signature warranty remaining. His is a similar colour combination to the one you found but has the following extra spec:

Xenons
Front and Rear Parktronic
Electric Glass Sunroof
17" Genuine AMG Alloys (New in Feb)
Heated Seats
Electric memory driver and passenger seats

Still doesn't have COMAND but like you say Alfie could sort that out for you!

Could be worth dropping him a PM to see if he still has it?

Looks like a good price , Just a couple of points . Dealer should service it before you get the car for 12 months worry free motoring .

Also that car was built without leather and had the leather retrofitted at dealer . I dont think that should alarm you at all as they normally do a better job than the factory in my opinion .

When the car is entered on the used car locator site it pulls the spec from the chasis number or registration number and matches it to what dcuk have recorded.

Check the wheels because water gets under the laquer and lifts it providing they are all okay i'd offer 12k including 12 months tax and a Service as required .

I was wondering why it may have listed as having cloth! Interesting.

Regarding the service I feel that the suggestion from wongl is excellent. I would ask for it in writing / request a voucher so that in 4000 miles when the service is due it will be free of charge.

Before the car is released it should have a PDI / basic safety checks. I'd rather have the service when it's due...

The bloke at the dealer said that i could have any car i wanted and get it leathered up for £1300.

That seems quite reasonable.

I was curious why the description said "maastricht fabric - alpaca grey"

Probably had a retrim.

what website can i look at to check the spec at manufacture?

(edit) can i use the reg number to do this?

Yes. It is possible to transplant practically everything but the headlamps is a fairly simple swap, please search in the electronics section for recent stories about this :)

I've been trying to convince her to get a CLK but she hasn't agreed.

Need space for the baby (that we are thinking about having in the next year)!

She didnt fancy messing around with a babay seat in a coupe!

Mrs B is going to pick the car up today!

She can't wait!

Will post some pics as soon as we get the chance!

I wonder what mods I will get done first!
