Recently NICE ( National Institute for Clinical Excellence) decided that 2 new drugs which prolonged the life of colon cancer sufferers by 5 months or longer should not be prescribed since they were not "cost effective" i.e. they were too expensive.
WITH
Ian Huntley who was found guilty of the murder of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman two ten year old girls. (he strangled them and then tried to burn their bodies) and sentenced to 40 years in prison was rushed to the nearest NHS hospital to be treated in intensive care after an attempted suicide.
Is anyone struck by the irony of this situation or is it just me?
