I bought an iCarsoft V2 diagnostics (off eBay) and while it's showing me the correct error codes I've got (had it run through a STAR diagnostics) I'm unable to clear them.

I've updated the unit to the latest firmware and I've still the same problem. Most of the time I try to clear the codes and re-run it comes back with a different selection of the same error codes. ie first time I see all 8, then clear all, rerun and then I see 5, then repeat and see 7, rerun and I get 1, etc..

I've emailed iCarsoft and got no response. So I'm left with returning it back on eBay

ALSO, i wanted to know is there a way to determine if the codes are either "Stored" or "Current and Stored" like it's shown on STAR?

Are you certain it is 100% genuine? There is a lot of cloned units being sold on the bay. Determining this would be my 1st port of call (do not know how to do it) and if I couldn't I would be returning the item and buying one direct from carsoft.

just called UltimateCarParts who say they sell 100% genuine iCarsoft. They told me my unit is working correctly in that the error codes come back more or less immediately / namely you can't force clear them if they are genuine errors.

@AltonAnt yeah reckon my is a genuine one. it takes the serial number automatically when updating but you also have to insert a "UID" unique identifier as well that you get off the screen of the unit

I bought my MB V2.0 from UltimateCarParts. It works perfectly. And it is genuine cause I contacted iCarsoft to confirm the serial number and I could update my MB V2.0.
I was told by iCarsoft that you couldn't update a scanner which is not genuine.

You can ALWAYS clear the fault codes, but if the faults are still present, the codes will come back as soon as the car's OBD detects them. I think that is what you mean, but it's not entirely clear.

If what you mean is that if you clear the codes and do another diagnostic run immediately, without having driven the car or run the engine, and a random selection of previous fault codes comes up, then you have a problem either with the reader, or with the OBD system on the car.

the trouble code will say if active or stored, an active one cannot be cleared until issue resolved, stored ones will clear with mb2

I had 2 codes on my w211 relating to the crank timing or something like that. They wouldnt clear no matter how many times i tried. Car drove perfectly. Just a glitch in the mb2 i think. Youd need star to delete them permanently.

My experience is that stubborn fault codes can often be deleted after switching everything off (engine and iCarsoft) then back on and trying again.

Also try both with the engine running, and with ignition on but engine not running.

An active code can be cleared, but it will return as soon as the OBD detects the problem is still there.

Apropos clearing codes, I had trouble clearing them on the E63 when I was trying to trace the cause of the misfire a year ago. For some reason there were a couple my iCarsoft V2 wouldn't do in 'Benz' mode, but it would in basic 'OBD' mode.

Have a job .i sold it last year.. tbh some codes seem to be hard encoded and confuse the icarsoft and cant be cleared using icarsoft scanners.
