ICE options in a '55' Golf GT TDI and an '02' W203 with Audio 10

Right folks.

I have a few questions for those of you who are technically minded (and those who are not).

I have just replaced my Saab 9-3 with a 5 door Golf GT Tdi mark 5.

I should get the same economy but it'll be more fun!

One thing I have noticed is that there is no "AUX" port in the Golf.

The Saab had a 3.5mm jack that i could plug my Sony Ericsson W810i into (via some SE cables).

This allowed me to listen to the 2gig of music i have on the phone.

I don't like the fact that I'll have to burn loads of CD's with different tunes on them.

Can anyone advise a quick, easy option of getting a 3.5mm jack to work with the standard Golf Stereo?

I was quoted for an ipod connection kit by VW but i dont have or want an ipod.

All i want is a wee 3.5mm jack.

Also, I have the same problem in Mrs B's C180.

She has an audio 10.

Please heeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllppppppppppppp meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

TIA,

KJ

can anyone help?

Someone must be able to give some advice.

If not for the Golf then for the W203?

The availability of an AUX input relies 100% on the headunit in use.

Some oem headunits including comand have an AUX input, sometimes the cable is already present and sometimes you have to buy a few bits and pieces to fit it.

There are plenty of aftermarket options for phono jack hookups, but generally they're designed for use with aftermarket head units (Alpine, Pioneer et al).

Unless the factory have something, you might be able to cobble something together using a changer adaptor from someone like Add a Changer, and then one of the phono adaptor units from one of the audio manufacturers, which normally connect via the CD changer ports. No guarantees on that though!

The W203 has the standard Audio 10 headunit.

What part numbers would I need and would anyone be able to do the conversion?

TIA
