Identify this part for me please - W124

[quenching]

This part was found sitting in the drivers footwell of a 1994 W124 E220 estate. Nothing on the car seems to be broken and I've no guarantee its even part of the car The only thing I noticed was that the metal faceplate on the ignition keyhole spins around, I never noticed this before but thats not to say it didn't actually do it before.

So, based on all that extremely detailed info can anyone identify this before I sling it in the bin?

could it be the "release" thing behind the ignition barrel - the one you push the prongs down towards?

I think one of the pin of a three pin 13amp uk mains plug. nothing to do with the car.
