Car
2010 bmw 325d m sport coupe.......2007 transit high roof ,LWB......
as some of you will already know, ive got a clean w124 for sale. I put it in the classified section and then on ebay. The auction finished last friday with a top bid of £741, the buyer is fairly local to me, so i figured they come pick it up over the weekend.
My auction listing clearly stated the final price is what i want and i wouldn't haggle, also, i didnt list the car as having tax, although it does ,up until the end of august, but i figured the buyer could buy that for the surrender value if they wished. So I email the buyer to ask when they are coming, she emailed back saying sunday would be fine if the car had the tax on it, i email back saying there is tax until the end of august and i want an extra £50 for that, she replies that she will give me £750 with the tax. Im sorry i say, why would i sell you £50 worth of tax for £9 ??? but as a gesture and to save me the hassle of waiting for a refund, id sell her car and tax for £780, she replies she will give me £780 through paypal or £750 cash. I never gave the option to pay the full amount through paypal, so thats irrelevant anyway.
Luckily an mbclub member has offered to buy it for the ebay price and im happier to sell it to him anyway, so im giving her until the morning to reply or shes lost out on the deal.
What happens if i leave neg feedback as a seller? am i right in saying she can leave neg in return even if ive filed a non paying bidder thingy to get my final fees back?
Why do people do this?? for gods sake, its a car for throw away money, i thought it would be simple :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

I don't think as a seller you can give neg feedback anymore, only the buyer can.

I think she's a lovely lady. I hope she doesn't get back to you :)

Sellers can't leave negative, which is shockingly stupid.....

Just sell it to the other party, she's either a tryer/messer/dreamer/idiot!!

If tax wasn't listed then a bit of haggling over the tax is OK (but £9!!)

Is she still prepared to pay the £741 cash with no tax - you do have a contract for that, so might be easier (and if you stick to the as listed agreement, she might come around at the last minute.)

Ive agreed to let her have the tax for £39, so thats enough haggling for me. Id say shes broken the contact because she hasnt paid the deposit i stated would be required.

I'd have either clearly stated that the car had no tax (or no tax was included) or left the tax on and mentioned this in the listing :)

But - to be honest, I don't think I would haggle over such a small amount (buyer or seller!) - just make sure there's no petrol left in it instead

She's obviously being a little 'clever' offering you £780 by paypal.

I'd consider taking it because it'll still cost her £780 (:D) and also you'll be slightly better off by a few quid (isn't it 3.4% or something?) - so long as the payment doesn't 'bounce'

Ho-hum, I've suffered worse timewasters in my time when selling cars...

BTW, is three months road tax on an old E220 really worth £50 to cash in these days?

Will

£741 without the tax and you would have sold it?

seems the tax has caused the problem...

Nothing really new, people have pulled out of buying houses for stupid things like loo seats and curtains not being left....

cr@py and hasle for you though.

I hope the forum member buys it.

Sellers can't leave negative feedback so leave away.

And the idea of reporting you to the police over a ebay transaction sounds really like the person is a young teenager with the "I will tell the teacher" kinda mindset... I mean, no mature adult would even for a moment think someone could be threatened by just saying I will tell the police....

Tricky one this. but she made the first wrong move I think by saying the £741 is fine aslong as theres tax, she contractually obliged to buy that car for £741 now.

But at the same time, you may have confused the situation by asking for more money because the car is taxed... you should have just said it isn't taxed and pocketed the money yourself, therefore you would be better off.

Anyways, I hope the forum member buys it :D

Hindsight...

just got this reply,,,,wow,,,,complete balloon:dk:

Dear mikeouk,

Hi Mike, I do want the car, my husband and I liked the look of it last time
it was on ebay, If I was to buy the car without tax it would mean me
waiting for the insurance certificate I would also need a V10 form and I
would need to come to barrow for the MOT certificate, then I would need to
find a post office so that I could tax the vehicle and drive it away, it
all seems a bit long winded to me when you already have it taxed and I was
the bidder who pushed it considerably above the reserve price. To be honest
I never gave the tax a thought just assuming it had some on it and £750 was
my absolute maximum budget. I will understand if you are unable to wait and
want to relist it!

and my reply

Dear pharlapuk,

The car wasn't listed as having tax so why assume it would have some? if
you don't have enough money to buy the car and tax it then you shouldn't
have bid it upto where you did, simple!!why didn't you just ring your
insurance on Saturday?you'd have been insured to drive it straight away,it
all seems long winded because you've made it like that. Can i suggest you
don't waste peoples time by bidding for things you cant afford, its
annoying, time consuming and quite frankly, rude.

The seller can't leave you bad feedback.

But think on.... They have your address. ;)

Good for you. This buyer is a grade 1 muppet.
Ask her to pay the listing fees.

you can file an unpaid item claim and ebay will refund you for the following reasons:

Choose a reason for closing this case
1. The buyer and I have completed this transaction successfully.

You will not receive a Final Value Fee credit.

2. I feel I have no other option but to end communication with the buyer. (Available on the 8th day after case is filed or once the buyer responds)

You'll get a Final Value Fee credit and the buyer will get an Unpaid Item strike.

3. We've agreed not to complete the transaction or the buyer is returning the item. (Available after the buyer responds at least once)

If the buyer informs eBay that they agreed, you will receive a Final Value Fee credit and the buyer will not receive an Unpaid Item strike.
If the buyer informs eBay that they did not agree, you will not receive a Final Value Fee credit and the buyer will not receive an Unpaid Item strike.
You need to wait up to 7 additional days to be eligible for a Final Value Fee credit.

just had to go through this myself
