If you dont shoot you dont score

I'm thinking of setting up a business erecting signs for estate agents and so on, around the South Cumbria area.

Can you PM me to talk about rates for advertising it on your van?

;)

PJ

mmmm, youve never heard of barrow mafia? I can advertise for you with pleasure but on top of the monthly fee there will also be protection money and also 98% of your weekly gross incomings,,,if your thinking of relocating up here, ive heard tesco are taking on shelf stackers on the night shift:devil:

Seriously though, it's a good idea. Hopefully you'll find somebody to cover your diesel bill.

Good luck with a great idea.

A couple of points I thought of...

Are you going to charge more for a Friday day rate? What % of the week rate this would be?
How much of a saving you would offer for longer term customers?

What about advertising your space on your van when you are and aren't paid to advertise someone elses business (A 'your business here' ad)

How realistic are your prices? Do you think that you would be able to increase them in a years time if you meet with a great demand?

Would you be willing to reduce prices if you don't make any sales?

Have you got any quotes for signage for your van yet? Of different sizes / materials?

Have you researched what the effect of having different signage applied to your van may have? (Paint work damage) and how to remove them?

What about additional van security given that some advertisers could be selling expensive goods? eg the local hifi shop.

I hope the above doesn't come across as negative as I think its great to see someone giving a business idea a go so well done.

Cheers

Its an interesting concept. One which I am thinking seriously about.

I think Sparky adds some constructive comments.

To add:

How will it affect your relationship with the company you are advertising for should they take the odd phone call complaining about your driving?

I heard of something similar. It was getting female models to wear tops that reveal their bellies and paint adverts onto them. I thought that was petty cool, until I realised that I have at least twice as much advertising space as them!!!!! Anyone want to paint my belly to advertise then feel free. Rates negotiable.!!!!

I believe that Englands lady Hockey team used to advertise on thier knickers

Wow, i met this fit bird some 15yrs ago whilst i was young and innocent on hols in cyprus, any chance i can advertise " DO YOU KNOW HER " on your van since all i remember is her name was stacey and lived in barrow-in-furness ?????

because once vinyl lettering is applied to a vehicle its impossible to specify certain rates for different times.

thought about this, I may well do it if I dont get a responce from ebay

I think its a cheap form of advertising if you compare it with putting an ad in the local paper. Ive actualy already got someone lined up who wants to advertise a local housing complex for £100 a week, this is only short term though, so im looking to find someone else after their ad is removed

Would you be willing to reduce prices if you don't make any sales?

at the end of the day what ever I get within reason is a bonus because im running the van anyway.

Have you got any quotes for signage for your van yet? Of different sizes / materials?

could be anything form a hundred quid for basic vinyl lettering to a couple of grand for a full van rap, but its upto the customer what they spend because it would be paid by them

Have you researched what the effect of having different signage applied to your van may have? (Paint work damage) and how to remove them?

no damage at all, a heat gun or hair drier does the trick

What about additional van security given that some advertisers could be selling expensive goods? eg the local hifi shop.

I dont think this would be an issue, i wouldnt imagine an individual shop would want to use this type of advertising anyway

I hope the above doesn't come across as negative as I think its great to see someone giving a business idea a go so well done.

no problem, its good to get feedback and peoples thoughts
Cheers

Ebay staff seem to kick advertisers in the teeth for a genuine advert yet do barely anything to protect buyers from people who advertise using false or misleading information. Only when you inform them of suspect adverts using Western Union Money transfer do they go something along the lines of "Oops, forgot to check, thanks for letting us know of these, but I cant remove the advert even though they're trying to rip others off..." The words orgy, organising and brothel come to mind, use them at leisure :D

Listing an item that requires or offers an additional purchase is not permitted.
Because you offered something else in your ad apart from the one day that you were auctioning.

Have you tried Loot?
