Lots of Mercedes!
If you have ever wondered why it is that your wiper blades always seem to go too far and touch the A pillar rubber trim, then its probably because you are using aftermarket blades.

Ive been using bosch blades for years now and all the suppliers including euro list both blades as the same length... well they arent, one is shorter!
I always thought my mechanism was out of adjustment and never could get it perfect so decided to check the wiper blades with merc.

Merc Part Numbers are A1268200345 for Right and A1268200445 for Left. They arent especially cheap at around £30 for one and £20 for the other but they are correct!

Yup. The aero blades were worse for the clipping when I started using them. I was aware of the one shorter than the other thing, but just bought a pair an inch or so shorter. They wipe plenty of the screen for my needs so its okay, and no clipping.

Its a really annoying noise isn't it.

The reason of the driver side's wiper blade in a w126 hitting the rain gutter on the A pillar, is that the crank mechanism is worn out. A friend of mine just had his wiper crank mechanism overhauled (bits and pieces from another car), with proper lubing the inside of both wiper shaft spindles. The spindles are held on by C clips, one each. Works like a charm, no more blades hitting each other and neither the gutter nor the bottom of the screen. It's dead quiet too.

The old crank mechanism was so knackered and rusty, causing the two arms to swing way too much of their original paths.

I even put the 24" blades from W201 on his, working an absolute treat.

Seems to work for the 116 as well.
