If you thought AMG badging on on Non AMG cars was bad....

Really helpful, so thanks a lot . Will not be removing the iffy AMG badgeat the moment lol.
Had the beast up to 158 mph today on the M50
Ok so Im nuts but I do spend most days pootling around at around 30 mph so a 30 sec blast seems ok( I know it isnt and the safety police on here will be killing me but what else is a V12 for if not to have a blast on an open moterway with next to no traffic?? Bet all you AMG guys do it??
ps I do believe in safe driving honestly but .......................

My wifes A210 Evo had an AMG badge on the back and AMG mats and AMG on the exhaust trim

It wasn't an AMG car although it is in the AMG brochure I have for the year of car

arent they limited to 155mph!?

OP looks to have bought it pre-owned. Might have been previously derestricted or if was going by sat nav reading there is always the grey area.

Mines restricted by the size of my balls, the depth of my wallet and my reluctance to hand the keys over to Mrs TDE1 for six months. M50 is about the best place I can think of though, round my way, if your that way inclined. Anything over 157 is just silly ;)

Fair do's Tombadino, keep it safe. Might see you on the way to Ross one day.. I'll be the one dawdling along

Top speed isn't for me on a public road.

I never used to think like that many moons ago but these days, if you are caught or something happens beyond your control (blow out or someone pulling out), it's probably going to hurt your wallet or you, or both.

Be happy to try it on a runway mind.

I limit myself to 100mph as a rule...

I've never understood this AMG badging on non AMG cars.

Can someone explain? Do only real AMG's have the badges? I actually thought you can have "amg styling" etc like bodykit / amg wheels etc from Merc' and then an AMG badge is applied? A bit like a BMW M-Sport that is not an M BM if you know what i mean?

I was really stumped on this one..Really!

Today in Oxford.

come on now..

Amg badge with AMG styling kit wheels, trims etc is fine.

AMG badges on a c180k for example especially stuck in the wrong place is a no no.

My car has BRABUS wheels, brakes, suspension and interior bits.

Does it qualify to wear a BRABUS badge, like Rocket or Bullit, even if I stick it in the right place?

No, it's a car with added BRABUS components.

Same for AMG.

I personally don't care if non-AMG cars sport the AMG badge.

The important bit is CL55/CL65/SL55/SL65/E55 etc.

A fair few BMWs seem to have an M badge, but unless it says 1M/M3/M5/M6, it aint one.

M simply means M Sport and there are lots of little badges in the cabin (on the steering wheel, gearstick etc.).

Mine's an interesting one- it's clearly not a Brabus from the Brabus factory, but it does have Brabus engine management, along with a few trim bits and engine covers.

In the UK, the "official Brabus route" is to select what you want from the Brabus catalogue and have it fitted by a Mercedes main dealer, where it's then covered by the warranty.

In by case, all this was done at PDI so it's about as kosher as a non Brabus factory car can be.

Mine is described on my profile as a S211 Brabus D6 III E320 CDI Sport 2008 with AMG bodykit, which I'm happy with.

I wouldn't dream of badging it AMG.

Would I take my Brabus badge off - no, I like it and it keeps people guessing, just like unbadged cars do.

BTW the reason for the CLK badges is that there is no C200 badge any more, if you order the badge it's a CLK200 badge and you have to omit the L and K letters. What this tells you is that this car has had some bodywork done at some time and the bodyshop have stuffed up the badges.

I ordered a CLK55 badge and it came as CLK550 (USA model).

:dk: well not sure why these badges arent available, but still, the bodyshop was completely ignorant, or the current owner/previous maybe were even more ignorant!

my little nephew will even question that!

anyone know who can custom make badges similar or identical to MB ones ?? Have an idea but would need someone to make it for me.

Saw a 208 style CLK yesterday with Brabus on the left side and AMG on the right, and a nice peashooter exhaust to go with it! No pics unfortunately.
