had an ignition delay the last couple of days and wondered if anyone can advise??..when i turn the key to the 2nd position it takes a few seconds or sometimes i have to turn the key back then onto the 2nd position again, until the lights on the dash and fuel pump start showing. then it starts great and no other probs at all!!...anyone experienced this before?...its a 1996 e280 ...many thanks...niceguy

well....thats an idea...lol...any idea which switch?....cost etc?

Duh!!!! The ignition switch. That's the one you put the key in to start the engine.

well may sound obvious to you...but your talking to someone who knows nowt bout cars at all!!! is it a case of renewing the whole barrel?....ideas of cost?

If you cant turn the key then the lock barrel will need changing, and soon before it fails completely.

If you can turn the key to the start position but the starter doesn't engage then it will be the electrical switch on the back of the ignition lock unit.

Worth taking a look at before parting with any cash.
