does anyone know if there is any significance in the different design of ignition keys ? (newer chrome type)

For example the two below, and is any particular design better than the other ?

I am considering getting a chrome style key for my coupe, and am curious
(yes i know those are three button examples, and the coupe is 2 button)

it sort of is, however the innards are different to the one supplied with my coupe as well, but i have seen people report cracking on the button face and was wondering if one design might be better than the other

Bottom design is better as the top one looks like each of the 3 buttons have been cut out!!!
Plus the bottom design is far nicer on the eye. IMO.

I have the top one as my car only came with one key which was the old blade type and I'm very happy with it:bannana:

The top one is the 2008 onwards key, which is completely sealed.

The one below has been around since 2003 and can be reshelled anytime in its life!

They will have different metal blades which will come seperate so which ever one you order, remeber to ask for blade as well. Otherwise there wont be way to attach it to key ring.

ah now that is good to know, i figured it probably would be different - if at all possible MB would screw you for every last penny given the chance !

Mine came with the blade without asking and no extra charge
