RS7 did this to me a few months back, I got briefly obliterated!

Haha! An RS6 recently reminded me there's always a bigger fish somewhere in the pond...... The CLS was no match at all through the bends, not that I expected it to be!

Those things certainly open your eyes, and they sound equally as lovely too! None of that try hard elephant sounds like from an M car

Only an Audi so don't worry - seems to be the "chav must have" car where I live

Back in the day, I was delivering a 450 SEL 6.9
Young lad pulled up next to me at the lights in a tarted up Viva, clearly up for it.
Lights changed, I floored it, he left me for dead in a cloud of smoke from my spinning tyres.
The power of the engine far exceeded my ability to use it.
I did that in my father's Holden Statesman; foot to the floor, the tacho flicks back and forwards, the wheel speed climbs... and the car stays where it is. - The trick is to just squeeze the throttle off the line.

Anyone who buys a high powered car and denies that on occasion doesn't give the car a blast or leaves someone for dust is telling fibs!! haha

I suspect there's a massive percentage of drivers who haven't got a clue about what the styling and/or badge on the back of a car means. There's the obvious cars out there people know but many will underestimate just how much power cars can have.

When you drive a fast hatch back, it feels fast and it's hard to imagine how much faster a car can be. Then you get in a car with 400-500bhp+ and it's another league from a 250-300bhp car. So I'm not surprised someone can underestimate it and try it on. Sometimes you do get another good sport and exchange a thumbs up further down the road.

I find my E320 is probably underestimated by many. Ok so it's not in the same league as my CLS but it's a 16 year old saloon, no badges on the back but with the re-map a healthy power output and a big chunk of torque means it's surprisingly quick. Not that I'd ever put my foot down you understand! ;)

I tend to think that 'boy racers' see so many diesel taxis with 'AMG' , 'R' or 'M' on the back nowadays that they have a hard time spotting the real thing
I know my V8 AMG is not the fastest thing out there by a long way but I sometimes have to 'own' some fly boy in his four pot noise toy just to see him think "WTF was that ??" . My trick is to let them think they are 'away' and they change into 2nd (or 3rd) before they hit max revs thinking they have 'won'...then I stomp on it and blast past.
Childish and definitely immature for a man of my age I agree, but it makes me smile. :)

My first car was a Mk.1 Escort 1100 (not even the L). I was sat at traffic lights with a 308 GTB next to me. I revved the b0ll0x off mine to shoot off when the lights changed, and was feeling very pleased with myself, till I realised he'd turned right...

Then I got a 3-litre Capri, which had been bored out to 3.2 with a 4-barrel Holley on it. Now that was effin' quick!

30 years later, and I'm still a fan of the occasional "race" (but I know when not to play).

This thread is extremely childish. I love it!!!!!!:):):):):):):)

Much as I love the CL, I like the XKR for sunny days. For a convertible it's quite handy, with polybushed suspension, full sports exhaust and supercharger pulley upgrade. The mid range acceleration is vastly improved and the exhaust sounds just lovely.

Being bright red, it does stand out, so attracts all sorts, usually big French/German diesels or smaller sporty Renaults & Peugeots. Sometimes it's just nice to have a bit of a blast.

There's only one problem ..... the missus. She doesn't drive and, with our cars all being rhd, she's sitting towards the middle of the road, but without control. She hates it when I go all sporty and the other day actually screamed at one point.

Takes all the fun out of it.

Ok just had my E300 Hybrid for 2 weeks now and is the most non family friendly (my last car was a Zafira) fastest car I have ever owned - I have been driving for 27 years.
Obviously by the standards of the models that some people drive in the forums I appreciate its not the most powerful or sporty but for me boy does it fly!
Already I have to admit to leaving a few Audi/VW boy racer chavs behind when safe to do so - childish yes but at the moment this is my new toy!
I think a lot of them dont realise whats under the bonnet!

Too bloody right! When My Mate Dave came within a whisker of losing his licence a few months ago, it put the wind up me; it could so easily have been me. When the car can do 185, 120-130-140 is just a flex of the right ankle away...

That's one of the reasons why I bought the ML320; when you can't compete, there's no point in trying, so I don't.[/QUOTE]

Sometimes you just have to show these young whippersnappers just whose the boss :D:D
