As the title suggests I'm ashamed with myself. For what? For showing some lad a clean pair of heals this morning.

I was driving to work this morning (5am (early starts this week)) minding my own buisness when I noticed a pair of headlights getting very close behind very quickly. This car then simply sat behind me about two metres off my rear bumper on a otherwise empty dual carriageway. Initially I thought it may be the boys in blue doing a check on me to relieve the boredom of a nightshift, but he didn't budge for a good mile. We pulled up at some traffic lights and it was then he removed himself from my boot and sat alongside. The car was a 08 plate Astra Sporthatch 1.9 CDTI (red TI meaning it was a 150bhp). The lights went green and he shot off as fast as he could. I simply just sat on his rear quarter not trying too hard but making sure he knew I was there. Then at the next set of lights, something came over me and I wanted to show this muppet just how slow his car really was as he obviously thought it was a bit quick. The lights turned green and that was that, until the next set of lights which lead to a large roundabout. I had to show him that the CLK wasn't just a straight line bahnstormer and soon left him behind.

I'm not proud of myself for taking the bite, and if he'd simply drove passed this morning he wouldn't have been taught a lesson by a near 13 year old car.

:thumb::D That my friend is putting an older head on younger shoulders

Few more satisfying things in driving than showing someone a clean pair of heels.

It's a bit like trying it on with your mates gorgeous girlfriend. It's wrong, but SO right. ;)

Read your post a couple of times... still looking for the part where you are remorseful...

:D

Did the same thing to a Seat Ibiza a few weeks ago, barely worth the petrol but he needed to be taken down a peg and I was equipped and in the mood to do it.

To be fair though he did try, working the gearbox like a madman, turbo dump valve whooshing away meanwhile some bloke sipping a coffee in an old Merc continues to pull ahead with seemingly no effort at all! ;)

Nothing wrong with what you did my friend, it might actually have taught him not to be such a (ock in future. When i'm out in the V6 (not very often) and I get some tool like this behind me normally a spurt of power to show him what it can do and then coming back to a more level headed pace teaches them not to f*** around. Some people however you just can't educate.

Were you by any chance in the RH of the two lanes?

No big deal there mate, I usually get some complete tosser trying to do that to me every day 90% of the time I resist the urge to show them up.. but there's something satisfying about when you do!

I had something similar a while back, a VW scirroco in a 30 zone right on my tailgate. The road opened to derestricted and as quick as he could he pulls out to woosh past.

Quick prod on my go pedal and the bus did very well....

I backed off at a sensible speed and he went past, then I noticed quad pipes on the back and a 'R' badge.

When I got to work I had to look it up as no idea what engine etc....Its seems its a quick version :)

Which made me smile even more as my diesal estate car thats looked completely std just gave his sporty car a good run :)

Had some inbred 5cm away from the rear bumper in a 30 mph zone-wife was with me at the time so behaved myself-he then overtook at the next 40 mph zone(i let him to avoid any more hassle)-he must have been doing 50+-complete moron. All times i was just adhering to the speed limit!!!

I find it amusing what some people will 'try' with.

I seem to get a lot more of it since i debadged mine ..... i guess as they pull up , they assume its a CLK 200 or 230 with a twin pipe box.

Makes me smile every time.

^ Thing is I have done it when I know I'm going to be left for dead...

I was along side a GTR at a dual carrage way set of lights, Its good to see what 'they ' have..... in this case a whole lot more than me.

But having my car try as hard as it might its still good to see the difference when a really quick car has ago :)

In France on Toll road I did similar behind a M5 (the last model) car in front of him moved in and the road ahead cleared, I heared the M5 change down a few cogs but already was pressing my go pedal in preporation :) ... the difference then was less noticable but we were doing say 60mph already... still fun :)

I stopped when the WSSD kicked in....

(wife shouting slow down)

I did this once with an Aston, I was in my old 202. I knew I had no chance but as we joined the sliproad from the roundabout I gunned it then dropped the window, lifted off the gas pedal as he opened the taps and it sounded amazing!

A lot of people think that because their eg VW golf will do 0-62 in 7.1 seconds they can beat most other cars. The theory might be ok but in reality after they reach 62 the power and torque runs shallow where as my car carries on with its massive acceleration up to silly speeds. Saying that I general take it easy.

18 posts and no bah humbug - I'm sure one will be along soon though.

As the late Whitney said "It aint right, but it's OK" :thumb:.

Did exactly the same today. Near Regents Park. He gave it all he had, his engine was roaring as it was about to explode. I put my car in S, then stepped on it. I won by a whisker. He then pulled alongside me at the traffic lights, and I gave him a stare. Was well worth it - you should have seen the look on that London cabbie's face!
