Hello all,

I'm back but this time with a C55 AMG and I am most pleased to say the least :bannana:

The car is a credit to Coggers and the previous owners and I intend to cherish it for many years to come. Won't be using it as my daily driver as I have a nice cheap VW Bora TDI for that job.

Just spent the last two hours driving it around some cracking roads where I live in Cornwall and have come back with the biggest grin ever. I will start to tastefully modify her overtime but for now just loving the V8!!!

Coilovers. The best mod you can do. They are amazing on a 203.

Looks great - in fantastic shape!

I plan do go for coilovers in the long run any suggestions for the C55?

Yeh it really is couldn't believe my luck finding one so local to me.

Indeed don't see too many on the road down here :D

Other than giving the ability to adjust the ride height, what advantages do coilovers give compared to the original McPherson strut, which is a coilover itself?

The shock can be serviced

Lighter

Better damping when lowering.

Some kits have adjustable damping.

Spring rate is more consistent when cornering hard.

Isn't a rising spring rate under compression preferable?

Depends what you are using the car for. Certainly for road use a progressive rate spring will provide a comfortable ride, with a stiffer rate when cornering. A linear rate spring is more predictable if you want to do some track work. In these environments the plush ride of a progressive spring is less important.

In my experience...
