I'm Leaving the fold after 10 Brilliant Years

Hi All...Just a quick update on the Taigo....Absolutely loving it....thought I'd be having withdrawal symptoms but actually not missing the Merc....The Taigo is so much more up to date...Nice higher driving position...only done 105 miles around the little island so far.....its not as posh or distinctive as the S205 but I can't fault it so far....its returning just under 40mpg which is the same as the S205 and performance wise its obviously a little slower but hardly noticeable...not been on the big Island yet so can't comment on motorway use...the Mercedes was superb at speed felt really stable and safe...will comment further as time goes by...Eddie

Well I will be here for a while as the Taigo and VW Forums are rubbish...I've joined both and only had one response...so you lot will have to put up with me a little longer...

Well, I am now Merc-less and a member of Hyundai and Suzuki forums.... but still here :D

Well it's gone to a new lucky owner...My C220d prem plus estate...new reg is HW15 MHM....was sold via Esplanade last week on the Isle of Wight...Just wondered if the new owner is a member on here

Seriously? You're checking what happened to cars you no longer own? That's childish.

Also, why would you care? I couldn't give a toss about my 1997 Omega was being MOTed and taxed for only 5 years after I sold it, nor did I care that my 2001 Omega failed in 2005 on suspension (I knew there was something wrong with that lower control arm!). As for the W203 and the W204, yes the forum member who bought them from me still sends me pictures from time to time, so what? A bit of nostalgia never did anyone any harm 😊

Quick Update on the Taigo...Have to admit I'm loving it...averaging 40mpg over the 1500 miles so far...the Merc was 38 over its 33000 miles in my ownership...
I can honestly say its a really good little car...nice higher up driving position...performance is nippy considering its only s 1.0 petrol....has loads of toys...feels and looks super modern.... only thing I'm missing is the power tailgate....Not as overall quality as the Merc....Merry Christmas Everyone!

Merry Christmas !!

I rented an Audi A3 Sportback 1.0 in Portugal this Autumn and it was equally horrifying.

Hardly drank any fuel (50mpg), super modern, clever screens & CarPlay, excellent seating position, and quite fast, bearing in mind I’m used to driving my wife’s MX5 “quite swiftly” when she’s not in it.

Still not the big screen S500L that I’ve got pencilled in for 2023, but it does make you think. There’s a lot to be said for “adding lightness,” even if you do become an “Audi driver.”
