If they were listening to expert Attenborough they'd have heard his warnings of 'civil unrest, not having the food you'd prefer, and migration on a mass scale'. Drowned out not by Thunberg but the criticism of her.
Don't recall her presenting taxation policy though.

He is 92, she 16. Referring to her as a 'moron' serves no one.

You don't like socialism. What has that to do with the climate?

I defend to the death her right to say what she did but conjecture, hearsay, and what she read on the internet is all she has at 16, she would be mindful to remember that before she opens her mouth. She does not have the right, not now or ever, to not be ridiculed for saying it either. What can be stated without evidence, can equally be dismissed without evidence. As already stated, she is just another moron in the comments section hijacking the process for a bit of 'look at me' crusading as has been beautifully demonstrated.

Sir David's comments have been routinely ignored (not by me) for the last 30+ years, because he actually knows what he is talking about and can back it up, proof that society today can't handle too much reality.

You are being a little disingenuous, who do you honestly think is going to end up paying for this? Even the most neanderthal and stupid of us ICE fans can see whats happening here, its another raid on our wallets. Governments don't have any money, they only have taxpayers money. So it has everything to do with the climate, because how are they going to pay for it? Socialists (like the EU) love telling us its for the good everyone, by disproportionately taxing subsets of society to pay for the whims of said angry morons.

Don't be silly.

She's a moron in the comments section? Blimey the lack of self awareness.

QED

I haven't read or watched anything Greta has said but I'm sure her heart is in the right place however like all these eco activits they are preaching and demonstrating in the wrong place. They need to spread the word in India, China, South America. Europe is well ahead of all of those countries where the environment is concerned.

It seems that the kids born in the last ~35 years feel that the baby boomers are to blame for the state of the world today. They need somebody to point a finger at. However, they are not looking at all the benefits they have because of the efforts of their parents and grandparents, all the waste and carbon they personally generate and all the plastic products they own & use.

In my experience, people mid 30s and younger seem to be incredibly wasteful.

We need meat, we are omnivores. This takes us back to the over population issue. Less people means less meat consumption but Brazil will still cut down the rainforest.

One of the biggest problems as well as over-population is intensive factory farming. Chucks out both CO2 and CH4 (Methane) which is a lot worse than CO2 in it's effects on the greenhouse effect.

The land and food required to support this is enormous and very inefficient.

I've seen over the last few years they have started growing meat at a cellular level which looks promising.

There was a recent documentary this week about it and this concept cropped up again.

They basically created the chicken for a chicken nugget and the journalist couldn't tell it apart from a regular nugget. Previously I've seen them create a beef burger in much the same way.

You don't need to support the entire animal i.e. feed it, look after it, dope it up to the eyeballs with "preventative" antibiotics (which is a very very bad idea anyway as overuse) and you only grow what you need instead.

So hopefully if this can be scaled up, might offer a solution to one issue.

I've personally seen people of all ages be similar.

I'm not so sure it's an age thing so much as an individual thing.

Maybe certainly personality traits lend themselves to this kind of behaviour.

Which one were you then, John? :D

Not sure I agree- people (and their children) that came through WWII and the years of austerity that followed seem to be less wasteful.

I'll leave the last word to Leonard------ and Jennifer.

OK.

You start a thread where you admit that you are not into sailing asking what Greta wore when sailing across the Atlantic. What other reason could there be other than you wanted to stir up the membership into a frenzy of abuse aimed towards her.

You got what you wanted, one elderly gent even went as far as to call her a potato head or some other childish nonsense, I suppose you could say that you chose your audience well.

The only thing I have "Stirred Up" this week has been my Early Morning Tea FFS!

Where do you pick up these Vibes? It appears to me and a few others on this Forum that you can't hold back your Anti Everything Comments?

Announcement: This week I am the Target for DrFeelgood, Cue trembling in my shoes, NOT, I'll even check under my bed tonight!

This Thread was started and has continued by other Posters to be "Tongue in Cheek" It has brought out some somewhat strong comments regarding Greta T, but that's NOT down to me!

MOST of the Replies have been humorous, MOST of the Readers saw the Post for what it is!

If it was Offensive to anyone else, it would have died in the early stages, but it has gone on for #117 Replies so far!

Maybe if you don't like the content of a Thread or Posting you should just either Ignore it or just Not Reply!

Someone needs to "Chill Out" and that Someone is not me!

Happy Days to one and All!:D

You are right to point out that my views are mostly at odds with the more vocal forum members, I can't help that and will not change it either.

It was clear to me that this, and many other, threads are started in order to stir up the membership. It's a little like the so called clickbait that newspapers use to draw visitors to their website, it's not offensive but please don't claim innocence - in hindsight, do as you like, you are allowed your own views but don't whine when called out as it's unedifying.

Save the planet activists pretend to 'sail' the ocean to make a point.
Others get hold of a flippin' big fire truck to spray a buiding red.
Greenpeace used a ship that runs on disgusting fuel, will be anti fouled every year, to attack others for not being environmentally friendly. I don't blame them for the pollution caused when it sank though.
Tree huggers used to slash tyres on Range Rovers, likely travelling there in a massively inefficient VW camper that used more fuel than the vehicle they hi lite as killing the planet.
Others cause traffic jams and so increase pollution as these journies aren't going to be cancelled.
There are obvious hypocrisies that deserve to be pointed out.

The manipulated Grota Nothunmberg is 16, many think she would be old enough to vote here, she is old enough to carry responsibility. She puts herself right in the firing line.

Imho.
