I'm parking on your drive whether you like it or not

Just seen this thread and am staggered that firstly someone could have the cheek to park on someone's driveway at all let alone just leave it there for 5 days.

Secondly, I unfortunately come under the Met when it comes to my local police force who I'm well aware do not attend vehicle break ins. So if that car was parked on my driveway, I would quite readily obtain access, release the handbrake and push it into the road. Then report it as an abandoned vehicle. Is the owner then going to complain it was on your driveway? Who knows but there certainly wouldn't be any proof either way.

In theory I agree with your sentiments, but two wrongs do not make a right, towing the car off your drive is one thing but forced access and moving the offending car could well be viewed as theft of a vehicle....

The risk is that in this sort of situation, if you do anything to the offending car the owner is very likely to be certain that you were the one wot did it and retaliate. He/she may be more of a violent type than you are, and you will end up the worse off.

All absolutely right but I’m not sure I’d be able to stop myself.

I suppose the less criminal thing would be to fit a Security post in the middle of your drive and be ‘out’ when they come to move it.

I remember a guy who was cautioned for keeping someone in his premises because she was in a robbery against him. He could not prove these two people were together.

How abour putting-up a sign on your drive saying this is a privately-operated pay'and-display car park and by entering you contractually agree to a parking fee of £150 per day?

Theft is defined as the intention to permanently to deprive.......

Both true - the offence would be ' Taking a vehicle without the owners consent@

This is actually not seemingly a bad idea (other than the ugly sign!) - as all the dodgy parking companies lose on is mostly it's not their land and they haven't suffered a loss. The owner in this case IS the owner and has been deprived of his ability to use the land - the only sticky wicket being owner wouldn't be an APCOA member (is that a problem?)

I wasn't suggesting the owner actually attempts to 'fine' anyone.... just put up a convincing fake sign, that should scare them off.

If they are bloody minded enough to park, they'll park - but I actually think you'd have a leg to stand on (and/or put "you will be towed, and we are not liable for damage caused to your vehicle") :)

.."And I'm parking in YOUR Driveway." Snigger Snigger :D

P.S I have a neighbor from Hell that I often though about buying a 6 wheeler Tipper Truck and parking out side his drive way and Loctiting the Locks so he cant move it... or better still reversing it through his lovely "New" bay windows...
