I'm stuck - where on earth does this connector/cable go?!

Hi,

OM642 231BHP here - took off intake to replace turbo seal, thought it would be a 5 min job.

Found this cable (with the blue connector and no grey pressure tab) not connected to anything! I can't see where it goes. It's not one of the three that connects to the air intake.

Please can someone enlighten me?! I was about to travel on a 150 mile trip...

Cheers!

Ed

Thanks for the reply! Could you give me a clue on where about that is - I can't see anywhere obvious within the length of the cable. Do you mean the filter housing? For the fuel? Oil?

I can't see anything on the silver fuel filter housing, it already has a connector attached.

And it's getting dark and started with thunder showers.... lol

Should it perhaps plug into the top of the fuel filter housing?

I can see a black connector but can't make out if anything is plugged in.

There's already something in there, but I'm gonna go take some better pics now that there's a break in the rain. Thanks for your help!

Just looking now, I have some old pics from before I checked glow plugs with multimeter, changed glow plug relay, and a few other things. It heads down to where the glow plug is, but i can't see any connector there!

I am so confused.

Here are two pics attached of how it was before I messed with things last month. I have no recollection of disconnecting it.

So puzzled. Hope someone can help.

Is it worth boxing everything back up and then run a scan and see if you have a component fault open circuit.

Also is it possible that it does not actually go to anything , as some looms do have extra connectors for different spec engines ect.............. just a thought

Its not uncommon ......merc do it just to trick us :-)

I looked on a pic of a new engine we fitted a few weeks back to a sprinter and it had a couple of connections we did not use , engine fan , A/C , fuel filter heater. Not on the vehicles build spec.

Thanks guys!

My back is killing me from 3 hours of leaning over the engine bay while swearing and panicking, and I missed some work that I had to do tonight after a long drive... but I guess I learned something and missed the rush hour traffic, eh?

Cheers!

Ed
