lewyboy said:I have owned as many BMWs as Mercedes. They have all been great for covering long distances at speed and in comfort, spec is similar in each and purchase costs also very similar. The BMWs have been better to drive/own in two ways: BMW suspension/chassis set up offers more confident cornering ability, although runflats are not pleasant they can be replaced as a consumer item. BMW service plans are cheaper. I've not noticed much difference between the dealer experience and had no dramas at either of them, having said that I seem to be able to get through life without all the difficulty that some posters here seem to encounter. BMW were very good to me on one occasion and refunded me for parts which were subject to a recall when I had already paid for replacements outside of their network. In conclusion, despite having two MBs on the drive currently I probably prefer BMW.
I was the guy who developed the gullwing back in the day, so I had to drive them all the time to make sure everything is all good, init.![]()
Regarding the 507, I think that 6.2L NA is one of the best engines AMG has ever made.
