Going back to the depot today in my ride on mower, top speed 11mph, an impatient motorist, couldn't wait for me to get past one of those little traffic islands in the road, where pedestrians cross, so went around me and the island, so on the other side of the road, happens on a regular basis by the way, I've often wondered what would happen if there was a cop car coming the other way, well today I found out, the copper spun round and went after them, by the time I got to them, they'd been pulled over and the book was out. So I'm presuming points and a fine, for the sake of a few seconds. 🙄😮

Oddly, two days earlier (Wed 7am) only half a mile, from where my incident happened, we had a fatality involving a Council bin wagon and a Fiesta, I passed probably about 15 mins after it happened, police waving us passed, the fiesta was destroyed, there's only one winner between a bin wagon and a fiesta. Early reports the bin wagon driver totally innocent. 47 year old woman died. Sad.

Encountered something somewhat vaguely similar today on our way out … A mint 50’s Fordson Tractor, knocking out a good 10mph, with an enormous queue behind. No aggro, no stress, no problem, and the driver waving at everyone passing by with a huge grin. Classic IOW. 😎

With farmworker's vehicle comes farmworker's behaviour, eh? Why don't the dozy bozos pull over and let the queue past? If it were me, I would...

Because they probably get a secret pleasure out of it.
🙄

Some do; in my experience, most don't.

If he’s enjoys winding people up it’ll probably go relatively unnoticed here, as the vast majority of folks like myself genuinely couldn’t give a monkeys. This time of year any caulkheads in a hurry are already using the ’locals’ routes. 😎

Driving home from Dudley the other day (via the 'A' roads) close to Whitchurch, I was behind a giant combine harvester with escort vehicles. Just after one idiot had overtaken around a blind bend, the convoy pulled into a lay-by.

The idiot was just ahead of me at the next roundabout. I suppose that his life (and that of any oncoming motorist) wasn't all that valuable.

Better a few minutes late in this life than some years early in the next one...

On the estate where I live there’s a no right turn out of the entrance as the main road is a 40mph and it’s on a bit of a bend. To turn right you just go about 200m left to a roundabout the go back the other way. Takes seconds.. However so many idiots risk turning right. We can see the junction from our house and there are so many accidents I just can’t understand why people risk it.

Perhaps he was just a rather more skillful driver than you, and in a hurry, and in fact it was perfectly safe for him to overtake? One man's 'idiot' may just be another man's 'man who can do what I can't, or won't...' I don't say that was the case, but perceptions and abilities do differ.

On the general point you also make, though, if you never overtake a dawdler or a queue of dawdlers, or a tractor or a caravan-tower, you'll never be long gone and on your way by the time the rolling road block arrives at the next roundabout.

Top Tip for new boy; if you have nothing useful to add to a discussion, say nothing...;)

Maybe to avoid tailing on to the long queue behind the tractor they can see fifty yards to their left, trundling along towards them at 10 mph... :D

I thought he did make a useful point?

Just because you drive a CLS63 SB / SLK55 / Triumph Sprint / BMW F800 doesn't make you any more entitled than the next person.

Unless you have a cabinet stuffed full of racing trophies you aren't anymore "skilled" than than Mr Average (Meldrew2 drives BMWs so he's obviously more skilled than you  )

Get over yourself.

Yikes Andy. 3 messages in 11 years. You really should get out more and stop spending all your time posting on MBClub. 😁😁😁

Hi , well just returned from South London and driving was such an experience : for all the incorrect reasons.

On the previous trips the council's have changed the speed limit three times , no doubt as a financial collection point.

Driving in the 20 mph maximum zone I was give the two finger salute , car overtook me and was forced to drive on the incorrect side of a bollard , the six foot distance does not exist in South London when overtaking cyclists.

A large majority of cyclists don't understand what a red traffic light is for , I pass comment of an ex cyclist.

M25 : The standard of driving generally poor and one must ask have if the drivers are licenced to drive. ( Just like Cheltenham a few years ago )

And for those idiots delivering hot food ( with L plates on the moped ) should be banned from riding ) but we don't have enough Police to inforce the law.

Who mentioned the whinging, envious term 'entitlement'? We're discussing tractors, and other dawdlers, who hold other people up; travelling road blocks, I'd call them. Some of them are mean-spirited, self-righteous, meraly-mouthed smug prigs who don't want to go fast and don't see why anyone else should want to either. Ring any bells?

You have not the slightest idea of how skilled a driver I am. I'm no racing driver, but some of us like to make progress, and I'm one of them, and I'm quite good at it; practice makes perfect - well, better anyway. Not much point in having fast cars and driving them slowly, is there? You wouldn't agree with that either, would you?

I had a 129 once; a 500. It was dog-slow - bit like yours, only not as slow. I now have a 172...

Live and let live. If somebody who wants to go faster than I do comes up behind me, I'll move over and let them go by. If it's you, I'll let you go by, but it never will be, will it?

And breathe... :D

Get over yourself yourself.

Anybody carrying out paid work should not be allowed to ride around on L plates, traffic wardens also do it!!
