Started up the car yesterday evening, and suddenly got all sorts of warnings flashing at me, all sorts of initials were warning me they werent working, non of which I particularly recognised, EBC? something like that at least. The traction control light came on (the one that comes on when you turn off the esp) little triangles all sorts of things...

I drove to the end of my street, and noticed that the power steering also seemed off/heavy.

Pulled over, switched off, waited a minute, then re-started, and had no problems at all, all back to normal. Have been driving as normal today, no issues at all.

The only thing I can think of, is that I opened the car with my emergency spare key (hard key not fob) and set the alarm off earlier during the day. But surely it would give me a regular warning as opposed to all the electrics going crazy on me?

Unfortunately, I'm leaving in about 12 hours driving down to france for a few days, so am wondering if its a sign things are about to go bang?

It may have just been a glitch. These cars can be a bit like this sometimes.

If all is ok when you get back from france might just be worth sticking on a star machine, seeing what was going on and then clear the faults. At least that way if it does happen again at least you know the fault codes are new ones not ones that have been in there for a while.

Also is the battery OK? On modern cars, low voltage at startup can confuse the ECU and bring about all sorts of strange things.

I assume the battery is ok, but how would I check?

Seems like a one off, smooth motoring so far!

If the battery isn't goosed then a good old Italian tune-up might do the trick !!!!

Even if it is still ok i would look to still get the fault codes read and cleared. At least that way you have an idea of what might caused in and what to keep an eye on
