I am currently researching.

I want to import a used left hand drive 1995 or 1996 W124 3 litre Turbo Diesel Estate.

In order to get the car registered, I will need to show (amongst other things) that the car has a Certificate of Conformity (CoC). There are 2 types : EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval (aka ECWVTA) or the relevant German equivalent.

It seems to me that since the car is used and 8 years old that I might have to ask MB in germany for this. So does anybody have any personal experience of this sort of thing? Can point me in the right direction? When did MB start to use ECWVTAs instead of the german equivalent?

Just in case you’re wondering, I’m going to drive to Moscow via Scandinavia in 2005 , and onwards to Vladivostock in 2006 .

All help gratefully received

Rgds

The germans are very clued up on this, and when we have bought cars from there, they have taken care of all the paperwork for us...

Must be 11 or 12 cars we have got from germany, every person has prepared the documents etc!

Sorry, that's absolutely no help at all!!

Thanks V12 . Judging by the almost total lack of response, it seems that no-one really does this sort of thing very often.
