Hi.

I'm importing an S124 250TD. 1995 model so it's the face lifted one from a specialist I've known in Germany for many years. Flying over in April to bring it back. Will bring it back on euro transfer plates and take it straight to my local Indy for Uk MOT.

I've done this before with a 123so know the score. This time I'm wanting to put a UK dash in with MPH and some UK headlights into it. It's a LHD model. Manual.

Does anyone have either UK headlights or dash for one of these.

There are lots of dash units on eBay but for petrol models. Can anyone tell me about comparability of these.

Pics to follow.

And maybe a story or two!

Cheers. Tim.

Do you mean dash or speedo? In terms of speedo, you should be able to get any off eBay from a facelifted W124.

I would get the RHD headlight lenses from Bosch off Euro car parts - they'll have the pair and they're relatively inexpensive.

Cheers

Bill

You will deffo need the facelift headlights. There's a slight difference in the glass to accommodate the bonnet horns. The speedo may well be matched to the diff ratio so that will need to come from a 250D....probably :dk:

I'm meaning the speedo unit. There's one in eBay from a facelift 300d. Wonder if this would work??

The lens is also different on the headlights. Its not as simple as changing just the glass. At least thats what I was told when doing the reverse swap for taking our 124 out to Italy

Euro Car Parts have some cheap aftermarket complete headlights at the moment. That's what I'd get as the reflectors might actually work

I tried one of the ECP ones when some nice person smashed our passenger side headlight. The beam scatter was so bad it would not pass an MOT. Ended up getting the genuine MB article instead.

Did ECP refund you OK?

That's the first - and probably last - time I'll ever point someone towards ECP. I am not a fan of the company but noticed they had headlights the other day. If they are CE-marked they should pass beam tests

Yes they did. Moral of the story is to get the parts from the dealer. The only parts that have ever given trouble or failed prematurely on ours have been non original.

Sorry guys why can't the lens be swapped?

Swapped them on my old E500 and the new ones worked fine. They're Bosch too so beam pattern is perfect.

u can buy from europarts beam deflector and this enough for the car to pass mot i done for a friend w124 e320 cabriolet

I have a pair of W124 headlights if you get stuck.
