So, who reckons Sterling will reach parity with the Euro by the end of this week?

Got some money coming over and I am tempted to hold fire for a week - don't see any danger of being wrong footed!

I suggest you use the same sophisticated financial management decision making machine that apparently the banks have been using for years...

LOL! To be honest, recent events suggest to me that even this method was not employed....

Finger in air - thats all you need.

If you have Euro and can wait I would leave it a while. Our currency is only going one way for the next few months....debts for our profligacy over the last 10 years etc become due etc.....

    OUR?...........OUR?.............

    Dont include me in this.

I have been ultra prudent and managed my finances a damn sight better that the rabble in charge right now.

I meant the generic "Our" meaning GB plc. Granted many have been prudent but we are all affected by what is happening on a macro scale at the moment. Personally I agree, this lot could not organise Chaos but they will be unaffected (until, hopefully, they are voted out)

Unless you are getting a lot of money coming over in € then you would be lucky to get 1 for 1 after commissions etc......

According to my mate last night who is a currency dealer he reckons that the pound is slowly on the up now and should exceed at least 1.10 euro, if not better, before the end of the month. He also reckons that the markets are all over the place at the moment so no guarantees especially in the BOE makes another downwards rate change.

One thing that has puzzled me in all this is that our Great Leader has been banging on about a 'Global Financial Crisis', so how come the Pound is bombing against the rest of the major currencies? If the crisis really is global then shouldn't they all fall equally ie., not at all, relative to each other?

Funny that you should say that, just the other day I carried out an experiment.

Using the Travelex web sites, .uk and .com (US), I theoretically converted a GBP to the Egyptian Pound and arrived at a value.

Then I converted the same GBP to a USD then converted that USD equivalent to Egyptian Pounds and arrived at another, different+higher, value.

All in all, USD got a better rate for Egyptian Pounds than sterling so yes, its mainly the Pound thats taken/taking a battering it would seem.

    Portzy.
