Can you imagine then one in white, with the UK flag on it, being the official British Embassy car in Baghdad .
I used to maintain it being B/L service engineer .
The Jordanian ambassador had one similar in black so did the Kuwaiti consulate .
A cruiser par excellence for trips to Amman, (a most civilized Arab city) and being loosely considered the "flight engineer" I got to accompany the ambassador riding shot gun with the Iraqi chauffer while their highness' rode behind the drop down partition.,
On one occasion picking up Lord Carrington, the Jag left the Republican Guard Iraqi Gov Mercedes escorts way behind down the airport road to the city --totally smoked 'em at 115 mph.
