Inchcape prices?

You may have read on the mytyres thread of my broken front spring.

Priced this on the Inchcape site A2113210404. £44.85 list. £40.37 with discount.

Bought at my local dealer. £39.00 list. £34.13 with MBOC discount.

Are Inchcape inflating list prices to make the discount look attractive?

Don't the Inchcape prices include VAT.

By showing 10% discount on the retail price, it does not compare with how the dealer would normally do it.

The dealer would discount the basic price before the addition of VAT.

The VAT would then be applied on the reduced price.

So, 10% discount at dealer gives you a lower price than Inchcape.

However, saying all that you seem to have got even more discount.

Never thought of that. Certainly that would explain the difference.

Sometimes a bit more can be negotiated;)
