Further to this & this thread, yesterday the fault with my accelerator pedal was a constant one and the engine light was on.

So as the car was dangerous to drive, (loss of power and 10 sec to crawl away from hitting gas time:confused:) I called Mobilolife at 8.50am this morning and the fellow who I spoke to was initially saying that I should take it in to Whitefield (3km away) and was not deserving of recovery. I insisted the car was dangerous to drive and finally he relented but warned me that if there was no fault I would have to pay £187:eek::eek:.

I then received a phonecall from Mercedes at 9.10 saying that a fully kitted and trained Mechanic called N would be with me within 40mins. 20mins later N arrived and got to work with star, he established the fault and after I told him Manchester had the spare part, he said he would go, collect it and fit it for me! 1 hour later, I got a call that the car was sorted.:D

The best bit was that the bill was only £85 for a part that would have cost me £100 alone at the dealer plus another £40 of labour on top! (he got a tasty discount)

All in all super service from MobiloLife, N was polite, helpful and an excellent chap, saved me money and loads of hassle, can't praise enough really, makes it all worthwhile;)

I think this is a really useful reminder to those who question the value of Mobilo Life.

Was it the pedal sensor then?

Well Ollie.... he thought it was and replaced the pedal, however the fault just reoccurred (after 15 miles of local driving over a few hours):eek::eek:

I switched off and back on and all is presently fine however I know it is only a matter of time:mad::mad:

What to do me asks? From elation to deflation in 5 seconds plus a horrible sinking feeling and some perspiration to boot:eek:

Actually starting to dislike my car:eek::eek::eek: no just kidding:p actually am I:rolleyes::confused:

Wish they had a crying emoticon... I would use it a lo.

:( :( :( is the nearest ;)

I know how difficult it is though when you "fall out" with your car. It's not nice. I hate these faults that you just can't diagnose. Had it on a previous car of ours and we went through loads of carburretors and fuel systems. In the end they ended up fitting a totally non standard twin carb on a bog standard basic Escort 1.4   Fortunately all under warranty, but nevertheless, why didn't the standrad factory fit solve the problem - but it didn't.(I think it's coz it knew I hated that car from day 1 :D )

Whatever, I hope you do manage to get to the bottom of it and get it sorted.

Thanks Pammy, appreciate that.

My love for this car is totally irrational.

2 months after I bought it some to$$er carried out a dangerous maneuver and hit me. It has been back to the bodyshop 3 times and is still not right!

On top of that, massive amount of hassle with insurers eventually papers were served for court action but they agreed 100% liability before a date was set. Took 5 months to sort though.

Then got an engine management light on in March which was reset. Returned in May and was told MAS (by indie), replaced MAS and the light reappeared, Took it to dealer and straight away found split Kompressor hose. £236 later, all sorted.

2 weeks later problem with accelerator, £85 later thought all sorted, could very well not be.

On top of all this the seats give me backache on long journeys and the central console (and suspension) creaks.

Despite all this, for some mad, insane, unfathomable reason I still love my car:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Does not take anything away from Mobilolife though, this was the first step to resolving thi sissue and I would have had to have it done by a dealer in any event so a big up to them:rock: despite the latest re-occurrence.

Is the sprit booster fitted?

Has the engine control unit had the latest flash?

It's this kind of stuff that makes me glad I got ServicePlus - even if I never have anything other than routine service, I don't think I could contemplate running a Merc without some kind of wallet/sanity protection in place.

Funnily enough (or may be not so funny) I had just fitted the SB back on, I whipped it off straight away:crazy: would this have done anything?

Don't know about the ECU flash. Is there any way I can find out?

The ECU takes a comparison of accellerator position and expected values. If there is a difference it will throw a fault by dint of a plausability problem.

It could be that the S-B is taking the readings out of tolerance.

Thanks DM

The initial problem started and was diagnosed long before I got the SB.

There must be a problem there that is being exacerbated by the SB. Would you agree?

Could be.
Why not run with no SB for a while to see how often it fails.

Will do.

Though I would like to get to the bottom of it.

SB was a very short (and expensive) experience... 2hrs:rolleyes: now there's not much that costs you £160 for 2 hours;):p

What codes did the Mobilo Tech extract. Were they definitely accelerator value codes?

You could do with the codes being read again, cleared, leave the S-B off then read again if it fails.

If it is accelerator pedal values then that leaves ECU or wiring.

Out of interest did you tell Mercedes-Benz that you had fitted the SB (Special Branch??) I accept you are now saying this all happened prior to fitting this gizzmo.

John

The flash done by a dealer often removes glitches in the software.

I am thinking along the wiring route though. It needs to be checked properly.

Don't know what codes DM, didn't tell me.

Who is my come back with, as it's intermittent I cannot get Mobilo out again... and I don't fancy paying the dealer for a bunch of diagnosis again. They won't take responsibility as they did not fit the part.

I suppose the only come back I have is with Mobilo if the fault is displaying, i.e. EML

ECU....Wiring....:eek::eek::eek:

They both can be repaired.

You're a comedian aren't you Ollie:p:p

I know they can in the cost that concerns me:(
