I have yet to hear anybody say anything remotely positive about Cribbs cowboys - and that includes former employees.

I would imagine an extended MB warranty will not come cheap - and will have conditions attached - which may not include servicing at Cribbs (MB new car warranty is not conditional upon servicing by MB - it is conditional upon using MB parts and recommended lubricants.)

I'm quite happy to continue with Green Flag premium and servicing at one of the indies in Bristol (3 points happens to be nearest to me), when my 3 year MB warranty is up next year.

It's a shame that such a large MB franchise has such a poor reputation amongst it's customer pool - surely MB must be aware of this?
Cheers
Andy

I too have had the experience of Mercedes at Cribbs!!!! As a consequence i used Mercedes in Weston Super Mare who were a breath of fresh air. They misquoted me for a gearbox oil change (£100) but stuck to their price even though they would loose money and also on 2 occasions have reset fault codes at no charge. Might be worth considering if not to far and you want to keep genuine Mercedes history.

Thanks, but I'm in Frenchay so a trip to WSM is a bit far for service! What about Cruickshanks by the City ground? Are they any better than the lot at Cribbs? Cheers

Cruikshanks became Sytner and moved to Cribbs! There's just an empty showroom at Ashton gate.
Cheers

I am also in Frenchay.
I think I will be going to the Bath dealers when I need anything.

No dealers in Bath anymore - moved to Norton St Phillip after Sytners took them over. Not heard any reports (other than lots of customers upset about the way they handled the move), but same group so could be as bad as Cribbs.

So is the Bath site at

Mercedes-Benz of Bath
Foxcote Avenue
Peasedown St John

Shut down ?

Sorry I meant Peasedon, not N.S.F, but despite the postal address it's not in Bath (anymore than Portishead, Pill etc is in Bristol). Just checked and our house (in Bristol) is as close to my office in Bath as they are (mind you I'm also closer to the centre of Bristol than Cribbs is - but Bristol is much bigger anyway)

Old site was bottom of Bathwick Hill in town.

Sorry to bump, but has anyone recent experience of MB Bath?

Wheezy is going in on Monday for a Service B....

I've always found MB Bath (ie; Peasdown!) to be very good. I've had good service and fairly competitive pricing from them. My "B" service was £100 less there than either MB Bristol or MB Weston. That's the discounted rate for cars more than 4 years old, but the other two stealerships seemed either unable or unwilling to help on this.
One of them when I queried it told me that their price included the discount, even though when they had quoted me they hadn't asked how old my car was. The other couldn't even give me an exact price as she said the discount only applied to the labour charges and she wasn't sure how much the labour element of the fixed price service was.
I guess they're still more than the indies, but if you want a proper stamp in the book they seem to be the best in the area IMHO. Strange, as I belive MB Bath are also part of the Synter group.

Must admit MB Bath seems OK to me.

Had my SL500 B service for £320, tried to charge me £400 but pointed out it stated £320 on their website and they honoured that even though I missed the footnote about V8's being more!

car was returned spotless and their valet people are some of the best I have found in Bath.

Will be downgrading to a CLS soon which needs an E service (what is that?) and think I will stick with them but maybe try 3 points for anything out of warranty.

I used Parkway for years when I had my C180, I found them reliable, consentious and very reasonably prices. There were always "classic" mercs being brought back to life in there workshed!:thumb:

It's the '10 minutes from Bath' bit on the website that made me laugh - maybe in an E55 at 3am on a Sunday morning (and not slowing down to 30mph for the speed camera in Saltford)!

It would appear that they just sell MBs - no mention of servicing on the site?
Cheers
Andy

As an aside. Years ago I was stuck in a serious traffic jam at Saltford, nothing unusual, a car up front had not noticed the traffic had moved a short way, rushed to close the gap, and was flashed:doh:

service

I use a garage on Winterstoke Rd-just up from the old MB gaage in Ashton. The web site is BG Griffiths, Mercedes Benz Specialist, Bristol. These guys done my E320 very quickly after the Cribbs cowboys tried 3 times(and failed)and the car has never been better. They gave me a free courtesy car when mine was being done and kept me imformed,I now use them all the time and have told several of my friends who all are very happy with them.

On the recommendation of kevman I contacted BG Griffiths.

They are not interested in carrying out work other than service and repair.

Asked whether coding for Xenons, Comand, UK Mode Deletion etc was possible and I got the answer (rather curtly and patronisingly) that this "tampering" could not be done....

Try Autospec instead - the owner used to be the workshop manager for the main dealer. They had plenty of modern mercs in when I took my W123 for a service the other day.

Thanks stever,

I'm not disrespecting BG Griffith.

They answered my questions honestly and the limits of their organisations remit and I have great respect for that :thumb:

Right, number for Autospec... wheres my Yahoo tab?

Wowser, Autospec look just what I need for a bit of coding :)

Pretty sure I will still entrust maintainance to Ollie though :D
