Please can anyone recommend an independent MB specialist in Brighton & Hove for a service (C180 2012)? I have found via Google Search A J Robertson & Autovets - any thoughts on these or any other recommendations. Thanks

I have used aj Robertson a couple of times over the years and the service and price have been good. Not used them for about 4 years so not recent. I have also used rivervale who used to be the franchised main dealer until a few years ago. Almost the same price as mb but several mercedes mastertechs and service far better than mb Brighton who are a bunch of utter #####.

Thank you. Yes I know Rivervale but as you say they are a similar price to the main dealer. AJ Robertson certainly get good reviews & is convenient for me as also in Hove.

Further west from you is PCS in Horndean, Waterlooville, highly thought of by many Forum members.

Thanks - I saw that is highly recommended but it’s too far for me to go for a car service. Appreciate the recommendation anyway.

We've used AJ Robertson in the past for the wife's car which at the time was a 5 Series BMW. However for my last Merc when not going main dealer, I've preferred to use John Haynes Mercedes in Worthing. They do collection as well - I'm 20 odd miles from them and they left a Smart in my driveway on pick-up. They are also a short walk from a train station if that's any use.

You could try ATB on Ford Industrial Estate. Roger has been looking after my Mercs for over a decade.

I have used services of Alan & a colleague at AJ Roberston over 5 years ago, (on my X5).

Alan is very old school...(competent , decent but sometimes blunt) . Alan knows what he is talking about - particularly with the more analogue cars.

He seems honest...Other customers including an MB owner have verified this on site to me.

Don't expect leather sofas & Cappuccino

Do expect to speak to the person who worked on your car.

Don't try to tell Alan what needs doing.......just the problem & maybe any crucial info.

Don't be offended if he is having a bad day

Do trust that he would not allow anyone useless to work for him.

Don't bother to haggle.

Be open minded.......His bedside manner perhaps not his strongest point.

I only stopped using him as I have since become friends with a decent MB owner village mechanic local to me, (not you).

Alan is one of the best marque focused Independents I have ever used. If I lived in B&H I wouldn't look to use anyone else.

I haven't used him recently... so no idea how things are in 2021.

I have met Roger at ATB Ford...Well regarded by customers & decent locals in the trade.

I used to us Alan, but I heard he sold up and it's now run by someone else. I'm not sure who though.
