Umm the only one I know of in South Wales is in Swansea.

TP. Motors - they are a specialist in Mercedes and BMW. They've done some good work for me in the past. They have changed location so I'm unsure of telephone number but they're located very close to the Brangwin Hall. They're latest details are probably in the Yellow Pages or similar. Bosses name is Tejinder Virdee.

Amazing what one can find on one's mobile phone if one actually looks

Address for a Mercedes specialist listed below:

The Grove
Rumney
Cardiff

I'm not a Mercedes owner (yet) so never had any dealings with them.

Stuttgart Garage -

I can recommend them.

Had to take the car to the garage today cos the brakes have been feeling a bit strange - noisy and a slight judder thru the peddle when braking hard.

Found Stuttgart Garage in Pontypridd (just north of Cardiff), popped in this morning, the chap there, Kevin, checked it all over - work required -

Replacement rear disks, pads and shoes
New sensors in front calipers
New Steering Damper

This took him just over an hour, the bill. I was getting ready to have kittens but was well surprised - £160 inc VAT.

He showed me around the underside of the car pointing out some future work that needs attention:-

front diff oil seal
Steering Idler bushes
The undertray or (sumpguard in rallying terms) is missing.

Well, that's all to do in the near future.

They are friendly. play excellent Motown music ( Martha and the Vandellas)and had a nice cup of tea. I hoping to get further discount by acting as consierge to other customers - but kev was having none of it(He's a good salesman as well as mechanic).

In fact a more pleasant way to empty your wallet I could not imagine.

Oh yeah, brakes and steering now feel excellent.

I'll bear him in mind, I live just up ther road.

Have you tried kings (cardiff) they are in yellow pages I have not used them but I know some that have gone there with good reports of work done. There is also Welsh Porsche at Pyle, both would be cheaper than SG

STUTTGART GARAGE in Craig, Pontypridd

I can also recommend this garage, very polite and efficient service, reasonable price as well. Gave my car a real good checkover and produced report. Seemed fair in what he recommended should be done.

Changed the gearbox fluid and filter, what a difference, thought it was a smooth change before, it is now. Happily collected the car from my workplace in Bridgend at 0700 and returned it serviced at 12.00, at no extra charge.

Stuttgart Garage - Pontypridd

I also contacted this garage following recommendations.
Maybe I called on a very bad or busy day - but found the response unhelpful and a little off-hand.

He is now at Northampton Lane which is just off the Kingsway behind the NCP car park. Telephone number is the same :)

Used Stuttgart for my service this week. Kevs a decent fella and does a good job... Don't think I'll be bothering with SG Mercedes (the main dealer in Cardiff) any more. Too expensive and not so good work. (Last service they forgot to top up the washer bottle and forgot to reset the service indicator).

I've unfortunately just used King's cars, the Grove, Rumney, and I think they ripped me off a treat. My E320cdi broke down last week, and I called the AA, who diagnosed the problem as a short in the fan assist to the gearbox, which was blowing a fuse. They got it going by disconnecting the wiring to the unit, but said this was only a temporary fix and it needed to go to a speciallist to get the unit replaced. This literally took them no more than 10 minutes.

Took it to King's cars, who said they could not look at it for a few days. When they phoned me up at the end of the week, they told me exactly what the AA had told me, and said they had disconnected the fan so the car would drive (NB all of this had already been done by the AA before they got the car, and they had the AA report). The only difference was that they said it's fine to drive the car like this, whereas the AA said I need to get the unit replaced. Kings said replacing it would be a long and expensive job, and it wasn't necessary to do so as the fan doesn't do anything important!!!

How much did they charge me, considering that they had either a) done nothing to the car at all or b) repeated the investigations that the AA had already completed in 10 minutes? 2 Hours labour - £150!!

Not impressed, and still none the wiser whether I now need to book the car into somewhere else to get the job done properly. I definately do NOT recommend Kings cars.

KINGS CARS IS A RIP-OFF. I have already spent with them 2500 (purely labour, excluding parts) whereas elsewhere they queted me 700 for the same amount of work. Unfortunately too late since the job is already done. Also if anyone uses them. just ask the fopr a WRITTEN quotation in advance since later they change their mind and ask for more money.

Just fixed my 230CE which had defeated several other mechanics. Top man and very reasonable. Highly recommended:)

Stuttgart Garage

I am just about to buy a friends slk 230 and he swears by them.
Not to many good things he can say about the place in rumney though:(

Before i get the slk i have just sold my e-39 535 and i have a few probs but found a good place in splott cardiff called torque motors in singleton road who
are very good esp on electrical faults.

T.P. Motors is located on Northampton Lane, behind the Kingsway, just next to Harris Bros Tyres.

I do recommend them, however I can tell you that they ain't your typical Independant garage to deal with. Work can take time as they don't store any parts and mainly order them in. Nice guy though, my dad always takes our cars there. Depends where you are based in South Wales, if your in Cardiff there are a few places about....just read the rest of the thread. If your in Swansea, your only options are T.P. Motors or the MB stealership :)

I have used B&R Garages in Tremorfa for a previous BMW and current C200, though I think they might have only recently (past couple of years) taken on Mercedes as an indy.

Certainly very good on the BMW, good service for me in the past.

TP motors have moved, again and are now operating in the enterprize zone, the turning next to the DVLA driving test centre and then the last right. New premises looks superb and they are now working on newer models. So swansea dont fear, TP is near! :)

Hi all, just to update the record TP motors in Swansea are now called "SK Automative" and as Ibrar has said Mr Tejinder Virdee (the boss) is operating in the Enterprise Park Swansea. Next road to the Driving Test Centre, away from PC World, down at the far end, turn right and first left, directly in front of you! Phone number is now 01792795667. I will be checking my 200K in for a Cat check, will report back on their service etc. Owen.
