Independent near Dudley

[HR17]

I remember someone on here mentioning an independent for servicing somewhere near the Dudley area. I think the place was in Himley or Wombourne. I know of Andy Gayle over in Smethwick, but would like someone a bit nearer for minor bits of work and fluid and filter changes etc.
Anyone know who they are or of any others in the Dudley/Wolves areas?

Andy Gayle is the only one that springs to mind.

To be fair, simple repairs and servicing - like brakes and fluids/filters - are not really a problem for any competent and trusted mechanic to undertake/ Anything that might require MB-specific knowledge may be worth travelling for.

Don't dismiss MB Wolverhampton - I've found that of the Midlands dealers they're the ones most likely to do a deal on servicing and repairs.

I agree with the minor servicing point - I've had my last two minors done by National Autocentre in Stourbridge who do an OK job at a reasonable price. I just don't like the manager though, so don't intend going back there, hence I'm on the look out for someone new.

I agree with your point on MB in Wolves - my last car was bought new from there, and I had it serviced there til I got rid of it at 120,000 miles. I always found the service guys to be decent, reliable and reasonable when it came to getting stuff done for me. Not a bad word to say about them to be honest. Couldn't say the same for the sales guys though.....

sorry i couldnt recommend Andy Gayle.

i was visiting family and had a problem with my car when i was there the day before i needed to go back to scotland. i phoned AG and explained and he said bring it in early and he will take a look but get there 1st thing when he opended. he was 1 hour away but thought he'd be good due to being a MB specialist.

i did, but due to traffic problems i got there about 20 mins after he opened, bear in mind i left really early and battled through the rush hour traffic that i didnt have any previous experience with.

he refused to look at the car there & then and although he said i could leave the car with him he wouldnt give me a time when it may be looked at that day - even after i explained having to leave for scotland in the PM, not even whetehr ti would be 2 hours or be most of the day until it gets looked at. not very helpful, and i'd even go as far as a bit rude.

i ended up going to a small backstreet garage who solved my problem within the hour and the fix still holds up today.
