Hi fellow members. I am lucky enough to have both a CLS (59) and ML(60) and am looking for a decent independent specialist as the main dealer has become prohibitively expensive. I am in North Kent and have found NJS solutions near brands hatch and also BMW and Mercedes service at knockholt. Can't find any reviews on line so wondering if anyone has used either and could recommend. Currently need pads on the ML plus a little investigation on the remote boot closure.

Thanks in advance.

I use Wright Tec. Sandy Lane Sidcup. Ask for Andy. Recommended on here.

Are those the guys near Orpington that do Jeep as well? My Mate who lives that way has a Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 and I'm sure he said it was looked after by wright tech he swears by them for both their extensive knowledge and prices

hi give mb of medway in Rochester a go mike is a very knowledgeable person and imho is the best around.

Sounds about right - their place near Sidcup is only a few miles from Orpington.

Steve Garlic is well spoken of, he now aparently has his own place not too far from Maidstone. Search here or MBO to find him.

Thanks for the recommendations folks. The ML just died anyway and as still under Mobilo cover since last service its probably heading back to Merc Tonbridge for now.

Well Andy looks after all my cars. He is a Merc/AMG Specialist. But he does my Pajero for me when required.

You know he is just a nice guy with great family run business. His daughter makes great tea.

He is an old school mechanic, not afraid to get dirty and will talk you through everything if you ask.

Mobilo got the ML going so it's now in with NJS solutions to get the brakes done and new battery which is apparently under the passenger seat ! Will post how I get on with NJS ( he had some fantastic motors in his work shop including a pagoda as well as various E's and C's).

+1 for Wright Tech.

Yes, I think that is what appeals to me - always helpful too.

+1 for Mike at MB of Medway.

I have used Steve Garlick in the past but not for a while now so cant comment on him but things didn't go well last time!

Thought I would report back in NJS solutions and the work they did on my ML. Battery changed and new brake pads all round. Done quickly and very professionally. Thought the bill was reasonable and will definitely use them again. Seems like a family run business and is immaculate.

I cannot recommend NJS solutions enough, it is a family run business and they're incredibly nice people and with a huge amount of knowledge.

As a customer i have become friends with them, and theres absolutely no way they'd rip anyone off. 1000%.

If its not your local, then i would still advise you to use NJS solutions if you can.

I think they also have full access to the mercedes service system, so services get booked on the official system. Ask them to be sure though.

Agreed. Used them a few times and always very happy with the work plus as you said very nice people as well. They have a body shop as well and used them when someone bumped me last year and was happy with the work.

I thought I would add my recent experience. My SL has been to NJS previously and I decided to send my 86 Porsche 911 to them in preparation for selling. The car wasn’t running right.

They had the car 2-3 months in the end. They found that the engine was running very lean. They went through the whole fuel system front to back. New fuel pump, refurbished injectors, replaced the MAF sensor, new intake manifold gaskets, etc.

It cost me a fortune but I have to say the car has never run better in my 21 years ownership. Brilliant service from NJS 👍

They had the car a long time! Was this because you were not in a hurry, or was the long delays waiting for parts?

It was a bit of both John. Plus the owner was moving house too, so that delayed things. They also had to diagnose and repair the rev counter (replacements are £1300!!).

The rev counter was sent out for repair and the injectors sent out for refurb. They also had to hunt down a secondhand MAF sensor.

It took them a while to figure out the lean issue. And they just methodically went through the whole fuel system. I was impressed by the fact that they weren’t happy until the motor was running 100% perfect.

Ahh..a Good service then.... as I grow older I am learning to have more patience.. in these time of "get it done ...yesterday" its nice to know some garages employ 'real mechanics ' as opposed to ' fitters' I love the 80s Porsches... 😎
