Independent servicing - Surrey/Hampshire

Apologies if this is in the wrong place - I couldn't find an appropriate section for service-related queries.

My 3.5yr old C63 is due quite a big service: Service B + air filter + diff oil + auto box oil. i.e. everything on here: ESS Guide for Service: A204077156985/V143MD136500

The quote I got from MB of Ascot was knocking on the door of £1000 ... which for several gallons of oil and a few hours labour is frankly taking the wotsit.

So I'm looking for recommendations of independent servicers who won't charge such a huge mark-up on their oil and labour rates. But they need to know what they're doing.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. I live in RG27 and work in GU16 postcode areas.

Agreed, Olly is great. Have also used Martin at Mercurey Prestige Vehicles in Aldershot (3 minutes from the station), which came highly recommended by a friend of mine who has used them for years. So far found them to be very good as well.

Four figure garage bills are what eventually forces most of us to the Indy network!

Thanks for all the recommendations folks. I'll give them all a call in the week.

The previous owner had the last service (whilst still under warranty) carried out at an Indy (performance specialist place down in Bournemouth) so I'm not too concerned about maintaining the fmbsh - cos I can't.

And to be honest I've had past experience of main dealers doing a poor job - a Nissan main dealer gave my 350z back to me with air in the brake system... very nearly resulting in me piling into someone as I left the forecourt. So in my eyes a good Indy can be preferable to a main dealer service.

Thanks for the recommendations. Darren at Pro-Tech provided a good quote. Olly at PCS provided a better one.

Olly and Jack did a great job on the car yesterday, even swapping me over to my winter wheels/tyres for gratis. I'm very happy with their work, attitude and attention to detail. Oh, and the courtesy car was great too - I now fully understand why people keep their slushbox diesel estate Mercs for as long as they do. Comfy! (and makes getting back in the C63 quite an experience)

i think ive just had the same or similar service ((2years , 37500miles)at MB Maidstone closer to £650-700 is what you might pay
again it could be cheaper at an indie
i was a bit surprised but apparently these oils are expensive

Ascot need to sharpen their pencil or lose the order imo

I use Martin at mercury all the time for my C32 and find him a great guy to deal with! Mind you living about 500 yards from him makes it a no brainer for me!

I ended up teaching them how to read the Diagnostic Codes for the SRS module on my 1992 500E. Waste of time. They lost a bolt but offered to post me one which never arrived.

You might be more lucky than me if you arrive in a C63 ... but for diagnostics, if it's not in the Star system forget it.

That's strange...

I have used HSC quite a lot on on my 02 CL500 and 87 560SEL and always found them really helpful and would always sort out my problems, also provide W202 loan cars for free...one of which I had for a number f times and weeks with the CL laid up....!

Prices seemed reasonable to me...
