Apart from a TJ Neill near Glasgow and the Deutsche place near Edinburgh there seem to be virtually no listings of independent MB specialists in Scotland. I'm 200 miles further north and I'd like to find someone in the northern half of the country who can work on older MBs (mine's a 1990 560 SEC).

There's an official dealer (Weir) in Perth and Inverness, with the usual glossy and expensive DaimlerChrysler showrooms, coffee machine etc. I don't think they see many cars older than 3-5 years. Has anyone on this forum ever dealt with them?

I've noticed that there is also an independent MB workshop in Inverness (Moray Firth Motors) but don't know much about them. Any feedback from others?

THe Mazzoni brothers have a very good reputation, as mentioned they do all the technical queries for the Mercedes Benz Owners.

Thanks Graeme and Peter. I had heard of the Mazzonis/Merparts but wasn't quite sure where they were located. When the need arises, I might give them a try.

I bought a 2001 S320 recently from a small non-merc dealer in Dunfermline. It developed a SRS fault - signalled by a dashboard light - which was repaired under warranty by a firm of autoelectric specialists (name not known) in Elgin Street industrial estate Dunfermline. If you need the name let me know and I will find it out.

I know this is a very late reply, but yes, Moray Firth Motors in Inverness is a very good Mercedes independent. The owner, James Fraser, worked for Weir's, the local main dealer, even down to serving his time with them, so knows them inside out and all the little tricks. Thoroughly recommended. He looks after my W124 E220 estate, other than basic items such as oil and filter changes, which I carry out myself.

I might hace to go and pay these people a visit. Certainly not taking either of our Mercs to MB of Inverness (or Arnold Shark as I call them).
